Game Thread: Northwestern vs. Maryland

I have not been this tense watching a game in a while. We really need this one.

Seems like we have gathered a million defensive rebounds where it seemed they were going to get the ball and somehow, miraculously, we got the ball.

We have also fumbled away just as many rebounds that we should have grabbed.

Maryland trying their best to give us the game, but we’re having none of that!

WOW. What a great inbounds play to win it. Martinelli with the shot. Barny might need crutches and a oxygen tank after this game. Big team win.

Honestly, the way the refs called it tonight, the one at the end of regulation I guess is not a foul, but I think the one he shot like a minute before that was definitely a foul.
The refs tonight called it pretty even both ways. Let the guys play on both ends. Unlike the travesty in state penn. If you don't call it on one end you don't call it on the other. That state penn game is a big loss for no reason other than you had three refs who should not be reffing 10 year olds.

Had to have it. Got it. Dubya. We’re onto Michigan. I’m tired.
Towards the end of regulation my wife was starting to get antsy to head home. But she was a trooper and didn’t complain (too much) when we had to stay through OT!

They’ve had some good lines. The Ben Gay Icy Hot banter was clever.
They had some good lines but overall Bardo was just brutal to listen to. Totally not objective and just poor analysis the whole way through. It seemed like nearly every foul call on either side I was just thinking “you seriously must not be watching the same replay that your camera just showed.” Pretty disappointing given how good of a game it was. I’m not sure if he’s over the hill, or just… bad at his job.

PS the refs tonight were not perfect of course but I thought they did a good job. Especially toward the end they made the decision to just not call a foul unless it was egregious and they were consistent on both sides of the play. I appreciated that, and I bet the players did too.
