great game tonight: stanford vs UCLA

Stanford will now have played games on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this season. BUT, all of their games have been night games (after 5pm PDT) except ours - coincidence????

Big play fest so far; pick 6; KO return to inside the 5; busted coverage on post route for 70 yd TD.

But then Stanford just drove the entire field on a long, sustained drive, for their third TD of the game (less than a minute into the second quarter).

Golly, how did we beat these guys? Well, according to the announcers, Stanford's loss to us "wasn't really that bad" and is "somewhat justified" by the 9am west coast time start. Ok, then. I think we're going to hear a lot more of this kind of thing, because Stanford's going to be in the discussion for the playoff.

Halfway through our season, we've played two of the top teams in the country, IMO. We're 5-1...I'll take it...

Stanford running many of the same plays that they did vs. us. Only difference is, they're working against the UCLA defense...

I expect both SU and UM to be top 10 teams soon. Yes, how did we beat SU??

Lol announcers saying that wasn't targeting....

The attacking player has the responsibility to exercise due care. In this case the offender was running in the open and there was no excuse for allowing the helmet contact to take place.

OK, THAT play they most certainly did not run against us. Catch of the year tho....

I've seen several unique plays. How about the QB lining up over center with the HB and TB straight behind him and he pitches it deep to the TB 6 yds back. It seems pretty effective.

I liked the play where the WR came in motion and then blew up the DE on the LOS when the ball was snapped. That was cool. Stanford's fun to watch.

No, never. That was nuts. How is it even possible to catch a 50 yard pass off the back of the defender?

John Placensia ALMOST pulled off the same catch in the 2009 Kenosha scrimmage. He lost his grip when he hit the ground, though. It was the highlight play of the scrimmage.

Turk was correct as always, this is a great game! Well, great if you're the guy responsible for putting together Stanford's highlight reels....

We beat Stanford because we were better than them. We didn't just beat them. We dominated them. It wasn't as dominant as what Michigan did to us, but except for that first series, we dominated throughout.

Michigan may be one of the best teams in the country now. They lost their first game under a new coach by one score to a top 3 team on the road. I think if they played again, they'd kill Utah.

McCaffrey with 243 yards rushing - a school record - with game still in 3rd quarter. He had only 66 yards rushing against us.

369 all purpose and 4 TDs in only 3 quarters of action!Man, UCLA misses Myles Jack....

Turk, did you approve of Coach Shaw letting his foot off the gas by resting everyone with a pulse for the entire 4th quarter? UCLA scored two garbage touchdowns, so Stanford didn't earn any of those coveted style points...

Thanks to all for alerting as to the game and in particular the crazy pass that was caught on the back of the defender by Stanford's Owusu.

Caught enough of the game to see the multiple replays of Owusu's incredible catch. Stanford is #15 and Northwestern #20. Win against Iowa Saturday and we likely find both Stanford and Northwestern in the top 10.

Best thing about watching that game was that they mentioned Northwestern about umpteen million times.

I think the announcer's pronouncement of it as "The play of the year" is on target.
