Gerry Dinardo had a excellent answer today when asked on WSCR in Chicago about Fitz and the current status of the program. To paraphrase he said talking to Fitz he was reminded of his time as a head coach where the coach's natural reaction is push back against criticism even though you know the problem exists. He mentioned how when he was at Indiana every fan, media member was criticizing his program for certain things and he knew they were correct but let his ego get in the way of making changes.
He said Fans / Media members may be correct in criticism but obviously it is up to the head coach to come up with solutions. He hoped Fitz could see that coming up with solutions and making changes is not giving in to others but rather doing what needs to be done for the program. Dinardo said he failed to do that at Indiana and it cost him his job.
