Illinois Mr. Basketball Charlie Moore lists Top 10 schools

Absolutely nothing. Implying that his decision to go elsewhere must have been driven by sleazy recruiting, on the other hand, is the height of arrogance.
Normally we as NU fans are way too quick to play the "not academic fit", "wrong priorities", etc., but it seems like there's fire under the smoke on this one.

Iit's comical that both LSU and SMU appear on a kid's final list, and if you don't know why it's so funny, you must be uninformed. A program without tradition may not want to build one with a Ulis or a Moore if SMU and LSU and perhaps the Illini are the company with which the program must compete. Ultimately, NU can't be successful with players whose sole goal is to be "one and done." That's not our identity as a school and we don't have the academic standards for athletics that would support replacing those "...and-dones" every recruiting cycle.

It's possible that Moore's decision is not driven by sleazy recruiting but it's definitely interesting that sleazy recruiters made his final cut. What if a kid actively seeks out the sleazy recruiters? That's more intriguing.

I thought it was an NCAA rule that he couldn't follow Pastner to GT? Is there a waiver or something?

Like everybody else, I watched Tunsil, Nkemdiche, and Treadwell go in the first round of last night's NFL draft, mere weeks after witnessing a corrupt UNC make it into basketball's Final Four. At this point, I'm not sure that there are ANY NCAA rules.

Where did he ever say anything about wanting to be close to home? That is something NU fans made up to give them some hope of him coming to NU. Unfair projection on him.

He never said anything about being closer to family. Cal's a decent school....best of luck to the graduating Mustang.

By the way, what's wrong with being an unapologetic NU fan and believing that our school offers the best environment for a college student with athletic gifts?

If you don't think we're a better place than SMU, maybe you should join their board.

SMU is a good school with a lot of wealthy donors, that has been left out in the cold following the 80's scandal. They have a beautiful BB arena and a FB stadium that could easily be expanded to 50,000. by enclosing the open end of U shaped Ford Stadium

Dallas does not have representation in big time college sports and SMU could provide that if they get their act together. Larry Brown put them on the BB map for both good and bad reasons. June Jones left the FB program in terrible shape

TCU has cornered the Ft. Worth market but Dallas still has not embraced SMU. Texas is down and SMU may have missed their opportunity to move forward
