Bryant passed Juice Thompson tonight to set the record for assists by a freshman. Juice had 128 and Bryant now has 131.

Not to rain on his parade but juice's teams were not scoring. Not only were they playing keep away but they were not as talented.

This is more recognition of juice than a knock on special sauce.

This is true McIntosh is doing great and will run up big numbers this year but Juices teams were slow and methodical purposely slowing down the game to throw the opposition out off

McIntosh needs 28 more assists to become the all-time single season leader for NU. Tim Doyle 2007

With 3 more regular season games and at least 1 postseason, he's got a shot to do that.

We are glad to have him on the squad Kelly, he hasn't scored as much the last couple games but he's been instrumental in keeping the offense calm and distributing the ball. Without looking at numbers, it also feels like he's reduced his unforced turnovers, the ones from being too casual with the ball. He had the late inbounds pass that he dropped last night but that was under duress. Overall he's becoming more surehanded as he adjusts to the pressure and quickness of B1G defenses.

We might need a win or two in the BTT to get him a chance. Only 4 guaranteed games left. One of the best things about last night was BMac's ability to be a major contributor even though his shot was not falling. Not that I expect anything less of him, but that's still a great thing to see in a Freshman.

That team averaged two less points a game than this year's team and Juice was able to pass to Coble and Moore, who both were shooting close to 40% from 3 point range, so I think it speaks highly of both of them.

This is true, but per KenPom's numbers, BMac's assist % is 32.0, while Juice's was 26.6 his freshman season. Once pace is removed, you can see BMac has easily surpassed Juice there, and that 2008 team could score just fine, but couldn't play defense.

A 3 pt shot still only counts as one assist.

Aside from a slower pace, the PO is predicated on team passing rather than the PG mainly setting things in motion.

Also helps that BMac has better interior players (higher FG %s).

Shurna's scoring record may not hold up that long as well (but then again, if CC builds up the depth on the team as it seems like he is doing and can keep it up, Shurna's record might hold up due to players not getting so many minutes an the O not relying so much on a couple of players).

A 3 point shot only counts for one assist? Really? Shoot. Sorry. Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Are you suggesting that Thompson's record is more impressive? Because if you somehow missed it, my point was that you can't dismiss what BMac has done based on the PO. Got it?

Didn't think you needed clarity of that, but just pointed out your throwing Shurna and Moore's 3pt shooting % was a bit disingenuous.

And no, I don't think one if more impressive than the either - as they played in diff. systems w/ diff. types of players.
