New City of Evanston Vaccine Requirement

Northwestern Athletics, in accordance with the Evanston Health and Human Services Department's recent mitigation, has announced that a vaccine requirement will go into effect on Monday, January 10, 2022, for all indoor sporting events. The measure will remain in effect until further notice.

All guests and working personnel ages five and older will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination OR a negative COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours of the event.

Face masks continue to be required and must be worn during all home indoor athletic events, per Northwestern Athletics Fan COVID-19 Policies.

Guests must provide one of the following to gain entry to a Northwestern Athletics indoor event:

• COVID-19 vaccination card (actual card or picture of)
• Screenshot of COVID-19 vaccination record from pharmacy (e.g., CVS, Walgreens)
• Screenshot of negative result of a COVID-19 PCR or rapid antigen test (results from at-home tests not accepted)
Guests 16 years and older should be prepared to show a picture ID to verify ownership of the vaccination card or negative test result.

Individuals who cannot provide proof of vaccination or a valid negative COVID-19 test result according to the conditions outlined above will not be allowed to enter a Northwestern Athletics indoor event.

Northwestern students should continue to follow the University's January Wildcat Wellness policy through Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 8 a.m. Students will be permitted to show vaccination status via the University's symptom tracker app.

We thank you for your cooperation in our efforts to maintain the health and welfare of our student-athletes, fans, and our Northwestern University community.

GO 'CATS!

Reasonable steps and really not that onerous. Just came back from Hawaii and they have already adopted the European protocols that require showing of vaccination cards accompanied by IDs for restaurants and indoor visitor locations such as the one pictured, Queen Emma's Summer Palace.

A sad reminder though of how fragile life was for those of past eras. At four years of age their only son apparently died from appendicitis. If the present day health safeguards prevent deaths from today's COVID threat the minor inconveniences they pose pale in comparison. Pictured is the gift from the Island's Fire Chief on the boy's 4th birthday after he had expressed his desire to become a fireman.

San Diego State was requiring proof of vaccination and masking to attend indoor events. Now the school is requiring proof of booster shots. UC San Diego where I have a pass to attend any athletic event is not allowing any fans to indoor events at least until beginning of Feb if/when students are allowed back on campus to attend classes in-person.
