Anyone remember 2004, when we averaged 59 (59!) ppg and lost a tight one to New Mexico State, en route to a 1-5 start? Fun times....

At any rate, that was the last time Aggies beat a BIG team, Until tonight...

Underwood might soon be on the Illini hotseat! Can't say I feel sorry for them. Illini have a dirty program.

Was it a team we needed OT to beat? Yikes

Funny thing is this isn’t even an upset. New Mexico State is a better team/program these days.

Historically, NMSU has quite often had a strong basketball team. They've been to the Big Dance a bunch of times with some success. They're rivals to UTEP and UNM.

They were expected to drop off somewhat after last year, and their KenPom was actually lower than Illinois coming into the game, though. Ir was a '"home" game in Chicago, and Illinois seemed like the better team, but a absolutely horrific ability to inbound the ball cost them once again.
