OT: Caitlin Clark first WNBA rookie ever to record a triple double

Reading that, I have to wonder what the impact of all the different streaming services hosting sports and the abundance of other entertainment options on the tube have had on the major sports teams viewership.

I mean, the NBA has become less and less interesting to me, personally, over the last decade or so. But I also wonder if breaking up the market and having so many channels has led to a marked decline in numbers of people actually watching games on tv. Because a half a million viewers doesn't seem like much to me, historically.

Caitlin Clark liked Taylor Swift’s post endorsing Kamala Harris, and now a lot of dedicated Caitlin Clark fans don’t like Caitlin anymore.

Weird.

Yeah, seemed like a bold move for someone in the Indiana market. She made a statement to the effect of she was lucky to have a big platform and thinks that encouraging people to vote is a great use of that platform.

If people listen to athletes or entertains or plumbers for Presidential endorsements we are even in bigger trouble than I think. I think the plumbers have the most common sense,
Trump was an entertainer b4 becoming president. Zelenzky was a comedian in Ukraine. Anybody great athlete or prominent in society as cultural icon has more power than u might 🤔 think

Same thing happened to Patrick and Brittany Mahomes after Brittany liked a post by a republican nominee.

Suddenly people were randomly hating on Patrick.

Weird.

She's a college educated woman under 30. You don't need a crystal ball to give you an idea of whom she's more likely to support.

You would think…but clearly some people don’t… The Instagram comments were intense…but have since been deleted.

I'm rooting for Caitlin Clark now! Everyone here should be happy at last. 🤣

The WNBA guard that everyone on this board should be rooting for just helped end Caitlin Clark's season. Congratulations to NU's own Veronica Burton for advancing on to the next round of the playoffs!!

Burton had a good game and I think that's great! Let's all hope she continues to shine from the bench and the Sun sign her to a longer contract after the season ends. I think they got a steal in picking her up after Dallas waved her. She's young and will only get better.

Clark's season is over. I suspect next year's Fever will be a much more dangerous team given all the experience she, Boston, Hull, and Mitchell gained working together.

Need more basketball! Hopefully, the Cats stuff starts picking up soon.

Clark was unreal this season. Rookie of the year and 1st team all-WNBA. Broke an incredible amount of records, including most assists in a single season (she had some incredible highlight reel assists in that last game). She also accounted for more of her team’s points than any player in the league. Fever have a lot of roster holes….if they somehow get them fixed that team will be nearly unbeatable.

She’s kinda like the Chris Collins of the WNBA.

I for one will be relieved to have this board actually be about NU basketball again, rather than an overexposed Io_a alum.

VB got a 3 pt upset win last night over the Lynx. She did not have a particularly good stat line. But she looks like basically the Sun's bench. Only 2 bench players got minutes and VB represented 27 of 33 bench minutes.

Well you have responded multiple times to the thread. Here’s a hint, since CC is actually mentioned in the thread title, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to skip the thread rather than complain about it and like everything The C and CMT post that aligns with this thought!

The overexposed comment just confirms your bias against either CC/Iowa or both. Jealous players can’t even see that the WNBA went from a bush league with limited attendance and poor exposure to something people actually tune into.

I absolutely have a bias against Iowa and I have no problem admitting it. They're the worst! The shameful thing is for an NU fan to NOT have a bias against Iowa!

It was always only a matter of time imho. Once the summer league ended, there wasn't any other hoops to really talk about. It doesn't hurt that Clark is a phenom and it seems reasonable that she'll be talked about again on this board next summer.

But we're largely killing time here until the college season picks up some steam.

I for one am glad we had something basketball related to chat about over the long down time.

Bias sometimes results is poor logic on a topic,
No poor logic here. I'm enjoying winning basketball. The local team here won the first game of the next round and the other winner yesterday was led by UConn stud and true GOAT Breanna Stewart!

(Actually, I'm not that much of a UConn women's bball fan, but it is fun playing the foil on this thread....)

And attendance crashes hahahaha

Start a thread then. You can either complain or do something about it.
I can complain here too, because - out of consideration to others - I don't want clutter up the board with more things that are not about NU hoops.

It’s all wrapped up nicely in a single thread. No clutter. I think you’ll be okay.
