OT: Gates

Hoiberg is retaining Armon at Nebraska. Reported that he made $256,000 under Miles. Not bad coin in Lincoln.

Shocked that he was retained; good for him. Looks like on paper he's only keeping him since he was able to get their only '19 recruit to stay, and Hoiberg simply cannot afford any more defections right now, with 5 seniors leaving, Roby declaring for the draft., and Thomas Allen transferring. Wonder if it will last, since with some coaches, you don't see the purge right away, but it eventually happens.

Love this line of hyperbole "Gates was a key architect in the Top-30 recruiting class that helped fuel Northwestern’s NCAA tournament run".Uh, perhaps this might be true if we ever HAD a top-30 recruiting class? .Or if our recruiting had declined since Gates left (cliffs, it hasn't)?

True not a top 30 class, but it was arguably our best class ever and certainly most accomplished and it was done at a time when we did not have the tourney bid or new arena to recruit off. So he certainly deserves some credit for being part of that.
