OT: NL will use DH for EVER :(

So you think the deal was a good one for the Cubs? Kimbrel was terrible for the Cubs after he joined them. Then he was lights out and the Cubs did well to trade him. This is a trade to win NOW for the Sox. See
Adolis Chapman in 2016.

You were critical of Madrigal when the Hoerner comparison hit this board. Now you got him. Like him better now? I backed Madrigal and still think he is a better player than Hoerner. I am not a fan of the deal from a Sox perspective but at least they are trying to win while the team on the other side of town pulled a 85 Bears on the City.

It’s funny how great the cub players are in cubbie blue and such bums out of it :)

I think the former Cubs looked really good yesterday.

I like Madrigal but never liked him as a top draft pick. That said, nobody in that draft stood out as a better choice. So I’m ok w losing him and looking for another 2B with a little more power.

The wind was certainly blowing out that day. Sox park is hitter friendly, but Wrigley more so, especially in later summer when the winds turn south. Chafin and Kimbrel excelled with their high K rates. Nothing suggests Kimbrel will start throwing meatballs.

I won the chance to buy tickets to the Field of Dreams game in Iowa. Next to WS, this is a dream game to attend. Anyone else going?

Them Cubs looked pretty good tonight. Well, the ones that are no longer in the Cubs organization.

What a great way to get right again! Three games at Wrigley. Hey willy, lots of empty seats and Sox jerseys - what was the attendance like tonight ;)

Awwwwww! You shouldn't have.

I understand the cub player attachment, but rizzo will be out and the rest would make you root for the Sox. I could never do that to you.

Honestly, if I wasn’t taking the lady that took care of my house while I have been gone and done so repeatedly this year, and helped make some big leaps towards the end of my remodel, I would take willy so we could talk at length about sooo many important things like attendance and tax payer money :)

Lol, I know you’re trying to troll willy and the like, but this is pathetic little brother shit. Enjoy your once in a decade (edit: sorry, closer to once in 15 years) season and look forward, not back at the Cubs.
Absolutely not. I've more than paid my dues with the amount of shit I've gotten from Cubs fans on the internet in the last 5 years.

Eloy's line after 769 career PAs (most good hitters who play a full season get close to 700 PAs): 50 HR, .542 SLG, .265 ISO, 126 OPS+. BOOM.

Thanks, Cubs!

Look, I'm a Marlins fan. My team has as many rings as both Chicago squads do in the last 100 years despite sucking in pretty much every other year. So I have no dog in this fight...but the White Sox traded Fernando Tatis Jr. for 34-year-old James Shields.

These things happen. Hard to blame the Cubs for going for it even though the Sox clearly got. the best of the Quintana. But it's best to let things play out before chests get too puffy.

Tatis was a skinny 17 year old who had to play a professional game when the Sox traded him.

It’s true. Jimenez was a grizzled veteran when the trade happened. Can you Tatis’ career line for us newbies, just for fun?

It would be fantastic Cubs shit-talking if they had traded for Tatis...but they didn't. Padres fans can talk all the smack they want. Cubs fans...not so much. For all the "little brother" talk, the two teams have won the same number of World Series titles in the last 100 years.

And yet only one behaves like little brother. Enjoy!

And yet was MLB’s 52nd ranked prospect in baseball that season, despite never playing a game.

And when he played a game, the 2018 rankings had him all the way up to 2 - one spot ahead of Eloy Jimenez!

As much as the Sox won the Quintana trade, that same front office blew the Shields trade. Tit for Tatis, I suppose.

And it only took him 3 years! Lol

Where’s Quintana? I’m guessing the Cease + Eloy returns will dwarf whatever small returns Q provided :)

And as for years - our window is just opening - so good time for him to start rolling I guess 🤷‍♂️

Attendance at Game 1 today of the DH was 29,032

Still at Game 2 but guessing it’s about the same

Hmmm, Sox average attendance for year is only 12,000 less than the attendance you were attempting to give grief regarding

Purchase 10,000 Sox tickets per game then mention attendance

I’m sorry, how long was it between Cubs World Series appearances again? Guess you only have a few generations to go :)

Every White Sox fan would trade the past 10 years with the Cubs, thems the facts.

Hey Ivy - care to wager on total attendance for 2021 between Cubs and Sox? Giving you a head start :)

If there were 29,032 at the game, the Cats drew 70,000 for Illinois State.

Bad trade, one of worst in history. Quintana trade in team picture too.
CatmanTrue anymore realignment rumors?

So prospect ratings matter?

Jimenez was 20 and already in high A ball and hitting well. He’d played in the Arizona Fall League the year before and hit well. Overall, he was much, much more established as a prospect.

For the purposes of an ex post facto reflection of the understanding of a minor leaguer's potential at the time of a trade, prospect ratings are the best factor available unless someone here moonlights as an MLB scout.
