Thad Matta hired for a second stint at Butler. Hope this means his health has improved.

I hate to lose out on Matta. I thought he's one of those retreads who might unfortunately be a good option.

Butler passed on a Matta guy, Jeff Boals, the Ohio coach and former OSU assistant. He might be worth watching.

If CC blows this year, Gragg better have his list well researched and ready long before the season ends. CC is in a bad position and you can see this one coming a mile away. That next coach should be moved in to his office and recruiting by the Sweet 16.

I'm assuming a lot of people missed this, but Xavier fired their coach Travis Steele after winning their first round game in the NIT, beating Dennis Gates' Cleveland State team.

Xavier went on to win that tournament, coached by assistants, beating Florida, Vanderbilt, Saint Bonnie's and Texas A&M in succession.

They're bringing back cheating Sean Miller, fired a year ago from Arizona as a result of the FBI investigation.

The coach Xavier fired (Steele) has already been hired by Miami of Ohio.

Hyde Park is a historic and very popular urban area to live in here in Cincy. Right next door is Mt. Lookout. The 2 communities are largely indistinguishable except for the cache of saying you live in HP.

My son was under contract to sell his home in Mt. Lookout (one street over from HP)to the Steeles when Mr. Steele was promoted to HC. But Mrs. Steele insisted they back out when she belatedly learned she wasn’t buying a HP home.

Boals has been the guy I’m watching on my imaginary list. OU wound up 3rd in the conference, losing in the semifinals. They won a game in the CBI.

WildcatReport dreamboat Niko Medved, meanwhile, got what amounts to a five year extension at Colorado State with two option years. At the end of next season, he’ll have $4.7 million remaining. Buyout details weren’t published, but they’re probably too much for NU to stomach.

Is it Walnut Hills that’s the really good public school over there?

Yes. Walnut Hills is outstanding. Just one of numerous high quality options - both public and private - that kids have in this area. The support those schools get from the parents, their alums and surrounding communities is amazing. Where you went to HS in this area stays with you forever. Which explains why C and I talk about Moeller and St. X every chance we get. Though I did not attend St. X. Just a proud parent of 3 grads.

All those academic options was a big reason Mrs. GOUNUII and I chose to live, work and raise our family here.
