Northwestern, Boston College, Texas Tech, and La Salle will headline the 2017 Hall of Fame Tip Off on Nov. 18th and 19th at Mohegan Sun, reports Jon Rothstein.

I'm hoping NU will limit the number of non-conference games it plays at Allstate Arena. We already know the ACC Challenge and DePaul games are on the road. This will be a battle tested team and our home court advantage is likely to be less, especially for the early season games.

UVA is the 6th seed in the ACC Tournament. Would be an interesting match-up in Charlottesville. First team to 50 points wins!

There are A LOT of New England/Mass/Conn area PREP SCHOOLS with strong academics and talent. We've recruited that area heavily AND should continue to do so. For those reasons, I think it's a great place to showcase our games. Also Rap's first action. Guaranteed at least 1 Power Conference opponent. It's a good thing.

A lot can change between now and next year, but our 2017 non-conference schedule is looking more like a Carmody-era one rather than one reflective of a team ready to make another run at the tournament.

Virginia (I believe that's our competition in the ACC Challenge) will be a top quality opponent. That's a given. Beyond that, there's not much going. Oklahoma (with whom we have signed a home and home) was horrible this year (RPI 151) and lose their leading scorer in Jordan Woodard. Texas Tech (106), LaSalle (124) and Boston College (211) are unlikely to be much better than they were this year. DePaul (230) is..... well, DePaul.

I'm not sure if we'll be involved in the Gavitt Games again (given the Big East doesn't have 14 teams), but that would be a huge boost to an otherwise lousy schedule at the moment.

It will be very interesting to see how CCC and Dr. Jim fill out the rest of the non-con schedule given the above. I'd like to avoid playing the Chicago State's and Mississippi Valley State's of the world at all costs.

First, there are a lot more non-conference games still to be added. Secondly someone has to play Chicago State, as they need the money. Finally, I hear Kentucky, Kansas and Gonzaga are on the NU schedule next season.

And everyone was talking about how good of a non-conference opponent Texas would be...

Oklahoma is one year removed from a Final Four. The schedule will be fine, just like how this year's was fine.

Connecticut in November? It will probably be no warmer than here in Anchorage at The Great Alaska Shootout. That would make a great story with Coach Collins returning here to lead a team at a venue he previously participated at while at Duke.

I appreciate the wit, but I doubt that we're going to schedule 10 power conference teams in our non-con. Nobody does that.

We've already filled the non-con with at least 5 power conference teams (2 in the Tipoff, Oklahoma, DePaul and UVA) and there's only one team on it (UVA) that is likely to be remotely comparable to Dayton, Wake, Butler or ND. The reality is we played a respectable non-con schedule this year and that went a long way in giving us comfort at 21-10 rather than being a "Last Four In" right now.

Will this be a problem next year? Who knows. We could go 16-2 in conference and it would be moot. As you said, there's plenty of room left on the non-con schedule as well. But as of now, I though it was worth noting.

Our ACC-B1G opponent will not be announced until May. Just because UVA is the 6-seed in the ACC does not mean they will be our opponent.

I didn't realize that.... thanks for clarifying. Either way, we should get a quality opponent.

Do you know if there's a mandate to alternate home and road? Meaning we would have to play a team that played on the road last year (as we were at home)?

As far as I know, they try to alternate home and road as often as possible, but it doesn't always work out that way for the ACC teams because they have to leave one team out every year.
