Second-half thread for NU vs. ND

How do you blow that 3rd down that badly???
Absolutely no one looked at the QB. No one. 11 guys crashed into the middle of the line. WTF?

ND is a good team, but they are not anywhere near the same universe as Alabama and Clemson. Of course... neither is anyone else.

We had a golden chance, really miscalled the D or someone missed an assignment on that 3rd down.

I'd say they're the top of the next group after Alabama and Clemson; ND, Michigan, Georgia.

Alabama looks like a monstrous team though; hard to see how anyone even comes close to them this year. That defense is crazy, and the offense does more than enough.

How the hell is that not targeting? That second guy led with the crown of his helmet and hit Nagel right in the head. That's BS.

Gaziano lost contain - had he simply kept positioning to the outside or blown up the TE, he could have stopped it for a loss or at least slowed it down. Brutal way to lose the game.

The third quarter again was our Achilles Heel.

I’m a little tired of these second half collapses from us.

We got out-adjusted. We also didn’t have the gut-check moments we usually do.

If not for that blocked punt that second half was frankly weak all around.

We’re not there. Yet.

Also gotta ask, how come that ND defender wasn’t penalized when he shoved an already out of bounds Thorson? Play was over and Clayton was already on the ground. Guess the refs flat out missed it.

Were we in the recruiting battle for either of those behemoth wide receivers?????

#18 on defence was a complete disaster. Whole second half he got picked on. Then they pucked on him on the bootleg. Blew 100% of his assigments all day.

We don’t have weapons on offense without Larkin. We have not recruited well enough but it seems like we are starting to rectify that.

Their receiving corps is outstanding; great size and speed on most of their receivers. Not sure you can knock our defense; we contained decently, but we couldn't get past their OL and put much pressure on Book in the 2nd half.

If he's sitting there just watching the ND receivers race past our guys, it's a tough day.

Yeah, this was the kind of game where having a dynamic RB could have made a difference.

Sometimes you need a guy that can make a first down on his own, especially with CT struggling and our receivers smothered in coverage. Bowser had a huge 20 yard run in that quick TD drive that we had, but he's a bruiser, most of his game is 3-4 yard chunks.

We needed a JJ or Larkin that could make their own first downs out of nothing in this kind of game.

Hope Ayeni will get that for us pronto given how important the Hunter Johnson era is.

Ruiz made a freshman play on it as well
