LMAO! Hickory also had some bad losses to start the season. Bowser came onto the scene just like Jimmy.

And they were actually in the final four the year before & had Bobby Plump (called Jimmy Chitwood in the movie) who was the best player in the state & won Mr. Basketball in 1954 on the way to the championship.
In real life Bobby Plump held the ball for the last 4 minutes of a tied game before hitting the winning shot. He had only made two shots before in the entire game, but still dribbled at the defender & pulled up for the jumper & hit it for the win.
