Some bc recruits really puzzled me, insofar as they were such deviations from our model recruit type (coble, vedran, shurna, Moore, juice), etc.
Then there were ajou, Sanjay, even rowley, that just stood out. Although Nash was not a typical recruit and he was nothing short of great as a senior.
Yes, if we could have gotten a few more of the Vedrans and Shurnas, we might have actually broken through. Of course, that was impossible (and didn't happen) under Carmody. Recruits of that caliber and better are the norm under Collins, thankfully. Which is why we are going to make it with him, whereas we couldn't under BC. As we saw with the departures of Ajou and Turner, there is no room for that type of player at NU anymore, whereas they were mainstays under the Carmody regime (along with his predecessors). Thank goodness for Chris Collins and thank goodness, Carmody is gone.
BTW - I don't begrudge anyone from liking CC AND BC. And I even acknowledge Carmody's contributions and his strengths (he wasn't all bad). Doesn't mean I have to agree with them. I'm glad as hell we fired Carmody (shoulda happened years earlier) and feel so much better about the program and it's direction today with him outta here and Collins in.
