My top 5:
1) Gallagher -- due to being thin at LB
2) Sam Miller
3) Austin Hiller
4) Trey Pugh -- if recovered from injury
5) Kyric McGowan -- speed and playmaking ability

Kuhbander is probably top of the list for me. Would probably slot McGowan after Gallagher and include Brown on the list if he shows enough functional strength and burst. Kent has a shot as well -- lots of unknowns at DE right now.

Would be surprised if Hiller or Pugh pushed their way through pretty deep position groups.

I hope none of them have to play but would probably go with Gallagher, Miller, Brown, McGowan, and Kuhbander. Kuhbander will compete for the Juan b but I think and hope that Mason W. and the kickoff specialist that is coming in as a grad transfer lock up the kicking duties in Kenosha. I think there is a high probability that the first three see the field this year.

I may now refer to our kickers as "Juan B" no matter who wins the job.

Agree on Kuhbander. I'd also think Berkeley Holman has a chance at WR.

I will be fairly disappointed if our freshmen WRs play because it will mean that our returning players have not progressed. While we do not have much in the way of proven players at the position, we have several returning WRs that have shown glimpses on the field and other returning players who are highly touted. With Jalen Brown, there are at least 8 non freshmen WRs that should be prepared to contribute meaningfully this year before we even look at a true freshmen. With that type of depth, we should not be playing a true freshmen unless he is outstanding.

A very high probability? Um, i think not unless we have a slew of injuries. Maybe if our team lacked substantial depth or development.

Take a look at our depth chart at LB and DL. FItz wants to rotate those guys to keep them fresh and the freshmen will likely need to play in order to do that.

While I agree with you in the general premise that I hope the returning players grow enough from year to year to allow the freshman to develop making them bigger and stronger their 5th year, WR is the one position where If a guy is a real burner and has great hands, what is left to develop?

I see possible opportunities at DE and OLB, but would be surprised and disappointed if Miller had to burn a shirt at DT. Even at DE, am hoping that Goens, Gooden and/or Carnifax can get the job done behind Gaziano and X.

I don't disagree but think that our depth chart is weakest and our incoming talent is greatest on the DL. Like his brother, I think Sam Miller is capable of playing both inside and out but I actually think he projects best as a strong side DE.
