Vegas vs Utah !

Good matchup in a high quality bowl. Fantastic result for the team. Utah will be a tough opponent, but looking forwards to this.

And an early bowl matchup as well.

Love it. It's a fun city to visit and the game will be played in a new, indoor, NFL stadium, where in all likelihood alcohol will be served.

Unfortunately, I cannot go. For one thing, it's not in the budget. For another, it means either being away from home on Christmas Eve or traveling on one of the busiest travel days of the year.

I plan to enjoy the game in the company of friends.

I like the bowl but it’s a bit of an overmatch to say the least, kind of like our last Tennessee bowl. Utah was ranked as high as #11 this year and beat Florida, USC and UCLA and were 7 points away from Washington.

It’s a huge challenge. Will be a great test for Braun and the players. Hopefully they use these extra practices to continue to
improve and give Utah everything they can handle.

Gonna be an interesting day for me. I lost my wife, Carolyn, to brain cancer in 2019 and remarried a couple years later. My wife, Cathie, is a Salt Lake City native and a retired nurse who got her degree at the University of Utah. She's a casual alum, when it comes to sports at best. However, I acquired six adult children (and 18 grandchildren), including two U of Utah alums, both serious Ute fans. As I pointed out in a text to one of them, I respect Utah, its program and its coach, but I also reminded him of the 2018 Holiday Bowl and warned against sleeping on NU.

I could grab a direct flight at a reasonable price (Allegiant) from Billings to Vegas, but I think I'll save the money and watch on TV. Probably with a better view of the game than I'd get at the stadium unless I sprang for an ultra-expensive seat. We'll see.

Fare is reasonable. Might be able to crash there with a retired guy who was my mentor when I was senior in high school here in Billings and a part-time sportswriter at the Billings Gazette. A legendary sportswriter now retired and living in Vegas with his wife named Norm Clarke. Wonder how much decent tickets at the stadium will run you?

I think the difference is that Tennessee was explosive offensively and so we sort of had a bad feeling we could get run off the field.

With Utah, it's going to feel like our games against Iowa the past couple of years. Going up against a great defense but limited offense.

We can probably be within firing distance of taking the game even though it'll be tough to move the ball on them.

Utah will be favored, but we'll likely have chances if we can make something happen.

I booked airfare but bailed on The Bellagio since my wife will not be going. I will be interested in learning where WR board members will be staying. It seems only the lower bowl will be used. I usually buy tickets on the resale market but will wait to see where NU tickets are located. If anyone has insight into show availability, let me know. I don't gamble since it is called donating in my case

Utah was 8-4 including 5-4 in conference. They did not play a good non-conference opponent. NU was 5-4 in conference by comparison.

USC and UCLA were 7-5 this year. Florida was 5-7. Oregon State beat Utah 21-7. Oregon beat them 35-6. Arizona whipped them 42-18.

I don’t see an overmatch at all. These are two slightly above average power five teams. I see a tossup game.

I would stay at the Bellagio if looking for someplace nice on the strip. Looks like Luxor, Excalibur are walkable but they aren’t very nice. Which NCAA tourney BBall team was it this year that had to be moved from the Luxor because their rooms were like unliveable? The Delano looks quite close, just across the bridge which will be reserved for pedestrian traffic so it may be most convenient. Game is at 4:30 PM so it’s conceivable to fly in the morning and fly back on a redeye!

MANY Strip casinos seem to be run-down if the YouTube is any indication. And they charge resort fees; look out for that.

I will have to think about this. I have several immediate family members in Vegas suburbs, so we could have a Vegas Christmas. On the other hand, the wife's family was all supposed to come to our house for Christmas. Also, I have twin two-year-olds, and getting on a plane with them does not sound super fun.

Booked at Mandalay Bay. It's reasonable and it can't get closer to the stadium. If you fly home on a redeye, the Friday night stay is less than $150 including the resort fee and taxes.

Although it seems like our D was sloppy in the last 2 games, the O has developed toward the end of the year. If we get Coco back, that could be the difference. I feel like he is our best player
