Were on the road at Rutgers today in what promised to be a low-scoring affair (Rutgers allows a BIG-low 51 ppg) and it delivered, as both teams shot 27%, with few open looks.

Down 16 in the second half, we actually had the lead and the ball with just over a minute to play. But a key steal from Lindsay Pulliam, who had led the charge in the second half, led to a 5-0 run of free throws that iced it for the Scarlet Knights 45-41. LP had 16 pts, but the rest of the team only had 25, including only 4pts from Pallas (though she did have 17 boards!). It was truly a fun game to watch if you like defense, as our Blizzard defense constantly forced Rutgers into late short-clock situations, and their half-court press effectively negated our ability to get the ball inside. Rutgers is good, but not great, so though this was not a poor showing, this would have been a nice one to get, especially when it looked so good late (we actually held Rutgers without a point for ten minutes!).

Back in action on New Year's eve at home vs. the Illini at 3pm Eastern. The Illini are worse than Rutgers, so we will probably have a good idea where we stand early when this one is over.

According to my TV guIde, the women’s game on New Year’s Eve will be televised on BTN.
