It’s Fine

11-3 isn’t a lost cause. It becomes one when two of your starters add nothing on offense for the rest of the game

Talk to Collins. He's the fellow who played Nicholson a total of 7:44 after that opening segment.
He's also the fellow who played Berry a total of 12.5 minutes and only 1:07 in the 2nd half.

Meanwhile Martinelli went 0 for the first half and Barnhizer played his worst game by far.
Similarly, Collins had his worst game of the year - by quite a bit.

Its bizarre to me that people would try to pin the loss on Berry and Nicholson because they didn't score in 13 minutes or so each. Well, maybe not bizarre - just waaaaay off.

Sign Of The Times

Only if we can keep them in the fold. If they keep leaving with one or two years of eligibility remaining it does not work so well, Especially since they often are more developmental projects that take an extra year or so of development to be effective
It's funny, I made that comment what now seems like a million years ago. A factor that I had not considered - grad transfers.

Even when we are operating at a relatively high level - like if we could consistently achieve 8-9 win seasons, I think we will always be in danger of losing top-shelf talent who want to spend their last year of eligibility (after graduation) testing the market for their worth and maybe chasing a playoff bid. That will permanently be a problem for us in this new frontier, and there will always be playoff-caliber programs ready to take them from us.

ILL expects 18 starters to return.

and he probably won't leave, having already failed at Arkansas. So we are stuck with him
I still think he'd be the chosen son for Iowa when Ferentz eventually calls it. I know this has come up in the recent past and a poster said he's got a prohibitive buyout clause, but I maintain my generally uninformed position that contracts are made to be broken, and here are 479 examples in college sports/coaching alone.

The ceiling of this team will be determined by Berry and MN.
