Why was Nicholson in at the end?

If I was PSU, I would have let him get the ball and immediately foul him, which I think they were trying to do but the refs did not call it. I would have Leach, Berry, Marty, Barney and then another shooter.
I couldn’t believe the inbound came to him. I could see an alley oop but he’s the last guy on the team who should be catching the inbound pass where he was.

That said, great dunk in the Illinois game last season off an inbound but this was a completely different part of the court.

As far as I can tell, that wasn’t actually an inadvertent whistle. The ref at the three point line blew the whistle, made the twirly goaltending sign. The ref coming from the baseline then followed with the same twirly sign.

So they …
- Called a goaltend while the ball was live
- Blew the whistle before Barney got rid of the ball
- Reviewed the goaltend call, where there really may have been some contact with the rim by a PSU dude
- Reversed the call anyway
- Decided that the whistle meant they couldn’t allow the basket
- Debated whether they should really truly make such a dumb call, and whether they should just come up with a way to just allow the obvious basket, and decided that they’d rather just f*ck NU

That was a ~5-minute review, and most of it was a discussion of whether they really truly should screw NU. And they settled on HELL YES.

The NFL has a good rule about a clear and immediate fumble recovery. That type of rule should have applied here. Barney made the shot as the whistle blew. He was totally unguarded and nobody stopped playing at the whistle. Everybody was in the air or landing or just out of position. The whistle had absolutely no effect on whether or not Barney made the putback.

Gross negligence could be proven in court on this one. Actual malice would be tougher, but possible depending on the jury.

F---ed against Butler on a bad continuation then a blown layup at the buzzer. (Now a pretty bad loss as Butler has dropped six straight)
F---ed by Iowa. At least the guy hit the shot.
F---ed by the refs against Penn State. Completely embarrassing.

Ridiculous. The whole damn game they couldn't stop blowing the whistle, so of course there was an inadvertent one at the end.

Seriously. F THOSE REFS.
We could very easily be 12-2/2-1 and ranked right now were it not for some horrible late game officiating.

Purdue Fires Ryan Walters

The answer is Ben Johnson.

It’s possible he won’t join a team that doesn’t have its Penei Sewell.

If Detroit doesn’t win the Super Bowl, it’s also possible he stays, as he did last offseason.
That might be true if you were looking for OC but that is not the position Bears would be hiring him for nor would he take it from them. Have no idea about how he would be as HC

Refs ruined this game in so many ways

Took all of the flow out of the game with nonstop ticky-tack fouls. That was the least fun I've ever had watching a competitive college basketball game, EVER. The pros took steps to improve the pace of play and flow of the game but these awful refs just INSISTED on taking control of the game. It was atrocious in every respect. I commend the Cats for hanging tough like they did; it was remarkable how much the deck was stacked against them.

Are Peacock games available for after-the-fact viewing?

The most frustrating part of streaming-only games is that they’re not automatically recorded. (Also that they’re another charge, and that they’re the inevitable part of the enshittified future.)

This old man can’t keep track of every game.
I believe you can see replays but I have not tried. I bought a year for $20 (now 7.99 per month)

Halftime show for Rutgers-IU just showed it again.

Comments:
- Barnhizer’s basket should’ve counted
- Also, Nicholson was shoved on the baseline
- Also, Collins has gotta send that video to the league
- Also, that was officiating malpractice

Also, for what it’s worth, I’m about 95% sure that the second PSU big did make contact with the rim, but I’m limited by Peacock playback features (and the replay is still ‘available soon’).

So at least the halftime crew understand what Bardo and Collinsworth did not.

Officiating in this game

The future looks good. The young kids played well. We almost beat the refs and PSU.

If I was the coach at NU with historical ref issues, I would spend a few bucks to have six 4K cameras at each game, couple student video editors and a couple sports influencers and humiliate the refs every game with point of emphasis to get refs in the videos. Tag them. Spend to give them public profiles. And I would stay calm and in the box every game.

At let them know, when you stop fvcking me, I’ll stop fvcking you. I make more money and can do this forever. Refs would lash back first then figure it out.

It’s not like B1G has ever cared about ref quality. Need a multi millionaire with some balls. Oh yeah, I would deny any involvement in this campaign but make sure every ref knew I control it.

Heck, might have my unaffiliated grown son or father openly manage it. NCAA can’t control people not under ncaa control. And with ncaa court losses mounting, doubt this would be a hill to defend for them
More likely they would send those videos to head of BIG officials and to head of NCAA officials. Then these guys would get no post season. It is tough on the road and this si one of the reasons why, So many calls went PSU way
