New recruits -lack of comments

This remains my only objection. I genuinely miss the coverage of the portal this time of year.

As for the transfers, Farrell isn’t a big impact get for 2025, he’s a young player they must have liked out of school. He’s not some mega recruited guy or a big contributor on an awful Stanford team, so we’ll just have to see.

OT Xavier Gray was the big impact guy along with Karlaftis. All CUSA guy from a good program stepping up to presumably be an immediate P2 starter.

Karlaftis is clearly coming in to be an impact guy, but I’m not sure if it’s one I’m excited about. He was a central figure on, but not a standout within, a genuinely pathetically dreadful defense. However, we probably just need to trust Braun and McGarigle on this one. It certainly qualifies as acquiring an intended starter.

Hoping Yanni will benefit from a fresh start.

SMU QB Preston Stone

Who did he beat?

He looks like a deer in the headlights. I’m unimpressed.

Wasn’t SMU in the AAC last season? 😂

I mean he beat 6 bowl teams, 3 of them with 8+ wins, it wasn't like they exclusively played the dregs of the ACC. Again, I'm not saying he's the best QB in the country, but he's absolutely not a terrible player.

And I wish, you know, any NU QB could have put up a stat line like that in recent years.

Devin Turner to Baylor

You totally missed the point I was making. There are people on this site that week in and week out during the season make comments that our roster is composed of Ivy League talent. It’s not.
The bottom half of the roster, including most of the starting offense, is, unfortunately (okay, not literally ivy league talent, but G5 talent).

Defensively, yeah we still have some dogs in there, no doubt. We just lost three of the.l biggest dogs, but at least we’re on track making acquisitions. Still need several more.

Conferences need to figure out their scheduling

These unbalanced schedules with mega conferences just don’t work. Too much is being determined by who you draw in your league schedule and these first two games is a clear example of that. If I was the SEC I would split back into East/West. You’d have one division that is mostly traditional SEC schools and then the west would be the old Big 12 Schools, Arkansas, LSU and Ole Miss.

Big Ten and ACC need to go into PODs. Once the Big ten goes to 20 you can probably do it easier with 4 pods of 5.
