But it is a road gameMy computer algorithm is telling me PSU 72 NU 68...
Torvik says PSU 73 NU 70
NU has played a few games without Barnhizer, so we're better than our rating....
So I'll go NU 71 PSU 70
But the little voice in my head is laughing "You know its a bad matchup! Don't be such a homer..."
He is a career 45% FT shooter who banked one in earlier in the game. It’s the smart playThey're not going to intentionally foul with a 2 point lead.
Don't forget the Goal Tending No Call earlier in the gameSetting aside the insane phantom whistle/stolen bucket and the missed obvious foul at the end, Penn State scored 43% of its point total from free throws. They had 45 FTs awarded. That is egregious.
It was even worse if you saw the whole game, PSU was in the double bonus in the first half in the first 8 minutes. They were in the bonus very quickly in second half too. And we had 2 fouls on Barnhizer, Leach, and 3 on Berry quickly changing complexion of the game early. Luckily our Frosh came in and were not phased (though they had them in foul trouble as well.Missed the NU game. Just saw the replay of the screw job by refs at the end. Unreal!!! Can’t believe CC wasn’t more irate.
The coaches tend to want them playing under control. Go too fast and whole game breaks down for themI feel like we haven't really done that much this year tho, even against the teams that press really hard we've not tried to make them pay more than a handful of times that I've seen. That's really the best way to break the press imho, score a quick basket every time they try it.
Plus Mullins tends to get a lot of fouls called on himNot sure Mullins can handle Baldwin... but the thing to worry about it Baldwin taking the ball from our primary ballhandler, whomever it may be.
That Pratt kid on Northeastern (#3) was able to beat Mullins off the dribble and get to the glass and score at least twice. In fact we couldn't defend him without help.
Kern is a good 6'6" player for PSU.
We may run into foul trouble since both teams go inside for most of their shots.
We really don't have the depth only going 7 deep. Takes a lot of energy and fouls can go both ways Plus don't have enough guys that are quick enough. And we are pretty good getting TOs in half courtWhy doesn’t Collin’s ever press??
They're not going to intentionally foul with a 2 point lead.It if I’m PSU and I see him on the court, I cover the other 4 and leave him open. He gets the inbounds and then gets fouled.
I still don’t get it.
It if I’m PSU and I see him on the court, I cover the other 4 and leave him open. He gets the inbounds and then gets fouled.I think he was out of position in the motion, but I totally understand why they wanted him, Brooks, and Nick in at the end for the dunks and put backs. Cats tied it up that way before the refs decided they couldn't allow that.
Well he did have 7 assists tonight. Also if he can get it inside he can dunk it. Or some one shoots it and he gets a put back. I think he was there to create space and PSU shut down other alternatives and then even if they call it you have to depend on him to hit the FTs.If I was PSU, I would have let him get the ball and immediately foul him, which I think they were trying to do but the refs did not call it. I would have Leach, Berry, Marty, Barney and then another shooter.
