Wright gets starting nod re: ESPN

Cites experience and versatility.

Not much of a surprise around here, pretty much most here expected this. Obviously Lausch will have to be ready regardless, we've had multiple QBs in a bunch of seasons of late due to injuries.

Prediction Thread: MU @ NU

Wow. A LOT of purple kool aid flowing on this board on the eve of opening day. Understandably. The program is definitely on the rebound, if not back on the rise.

But sorry. I'm just not there yet. My big concerns are the OL, the OL, the OL, the OL, and in case I didn't mention it yet, the OL. Other concerns of course, like our young corners, and Miami being 11-3 last year with a very experienced senior QB .... but this is a prediction thread, so lets get to it:

M/O 27, Cats 20

I would LOVE to be wrong. GO CATS!

So, do Gophs fans like PJ Fleck?

I know I am one of the few here but I think PJ's a good coach. Most of the criticism is about his salesmanship but that's how he rolls. He is always complimentary of his opponents and I have never seen him misbehave. I do think his recruiting is falling off but I think that is more a function of familiarity. He and Minnesota might need a change of pace a year or two from now but he has brought a lot of success to that program. I would hire him
Fleck is just easier to ignore since while he has been successful for MN it is not all that successful

Johnny O’Brien Scouting report

Just got done watching Johnny O’Brien the Cats 2026 QB commit from Fremd. Left in 4th quarter with Johnny’s Fremd team up 24-0 over at traditionally strong LaKe Zurich team. I am no GCG, so take this for what it is worth. Fremd’s first 10 plays were pass plays. It looked like a 7-7 tourney. Johnny is definitely a pocket passer. He’s mobile enough, but there weren’t many designed runs. He was very accurate with short and intermediate routes. Threw some darts. As expected, he was less accurate on deep throws. However he launched the ball 50 yards with ease. Was elusive enough to extend plays and had some nice throws on the move. Ball fakes were good for his age and he had control of the game. Threw a few times into coverage but also was smart enough to throw away and live for the next play. Not the biggest kid, but probably is only 16 years old. Certainly appears to have the frame to add good weight.

In summary, very impressed with this kid. Strong arm, much better than I expected. Looks like one of those guys that NDSU gets that starts for 3-4 years. I think it is very possible he gets looks from other P4 programs despite his verbal commitment. We have to hang on to this kid.

I’ll get out for another game or two.

Parking ideas?

Normally, I would park in Wilmette and walk down. That's a bit of a trek, even for a cheapskate like me. I can still park there and either Uber or CTA, wondering what others are thinking.
I parked for over 25 years on Colfax just west of Ridge. The west half of the block is open parking and the east half is permit. I would guess that block is roughly equidistant between Ryan Field and The Lakepill. I am not attending tomorrrow’s game but if I were that is where I would park.
