You can “believe” Fitz was wrongfully fired…anyone can believe anything. But there’s no real evidence to support that. We may never know exactly what really happened with hazing. Fitz’ Col. Klink-like “I Know Nothing, Nothing!” position is implausible. The plaintiffs description of a widespread years-long hazing hellscape is likely overblown. The most we can say is: something likely happened and it wasn’t good. I say this as someone who admired Fitz and all he gave to Northwestern athletics.Because it's probably the right thing to do, if you believe as I do, that Fitz was wrongfully terminated. Of course, there is also the possibility that NU will win the case based on evidence that no one on this Board is aware of.
I know Mick Cronin. Former neighbor and occasional golfing partner at our local Club during his time in Cincy. But why would Cronin come to NU? Wouldn't same issues be in play or just fewer because we are more centrally located? And at UCLA, they have a history of success and pathway to trophies that NU would have a hard time duplicating, THat said if he were to come, that Spanish center that they have would be an interesting addition.
Most teams in years past would play in the NIT if invited. Most would even hang a banner for it in their gym.I am not certain the point you are making.
I will just say that a made for TV nonsense tournament for charitably described mediocre teams that exactly 0 people outside of TV executives and degenerate gamblers were asking for, reflects more on the “adults” than it does on any college basketball player/employee who has put in their full 32 games and 4 and a half months.
Yeah I mean this time of year I think every AD is always updating his short list of replacements and back channeling with agents just in case.Agree that NU as a life raft is a TOTAL long shot. Agree that he's probably not in play, but I'd sure check in. Gotta get that list lined up juuuuuuuuust in case. Hopefully there's more discussion with CC and his agent than coaching candidates.

2) The ok-but-not-great NU source tells me Jackson and Collins get along well. He believes this is a play for an extension by CC's agent and it will work out in the end.
3) But if Mick Cronin is in play ... hmmmmm? Don't ask me if I'd sacrifice CC for Cronin. You may not like the answer. If I were Jackson, I'd put in a call juuuuuuuuuuust in case.
Think Cronin is not in play for NU. Allegedly he’d like to go to Nova. He’s interested in IU but I think they’re not interested. If Florida opens up as expected, I’d imagine he will want to go there. I don’t think Cronin would leave UCLA unless he was getting one of his top choices.1) Thanks to @Vassar69 for the nice summary.

I think the TLDR is: potential landing spots listed by NU fans seem unlikely as he’s not near the top of their wishlists. So in the event that he was interested in a new opportunity, there may not be a good opportunity available that wouldn’t be a lateral move or step down.So long story short Collins is staying in Evanston?
