Thanks for finding that. I guess we will never know if Northwestern would have been the replacement with a 5 win season. Now don't shake my faith in Santa too. From an article:
“To determine a replacement for Marshall, it came down to sifting through a ranking of NCAA APR scores of teams that finished the 2024 season with a 5-7 record. Top of the list were the likes of Cincinnati, Wisconsin and Air Force, but the committee ultimately landed on Louisiana Tech, who landed 16th out of 17 teams among the group. “
Almost certainly it was proximity to the bowl’s Shreveport, LA location. The rules about 5-7 teams probably only apply to the initial selection process. This way the bowl got to choose whomever they felt was going to fill the most seats on 2 weeks notice.
I think he was a grad transfer to notre dame??What ever happpened To wrassler? He disappeared around same time as Turk.
I am pissed about the reffing too but if you watch the first 5 mins of each half again, there is no question the Cats fouled more than Penn State.Cats had 38 points in the paint on about 46% shooting. It wasn't 'only a few times'. They did get a few calls, including a technical that should probably have been a flagrant. But if the refs had called PSU's defense around the arc as inventively as they called the Cats, we'd have had a similar number of free throws.

And got some calls. I was really hoping they would do it more. If the zebras want to call touches, we have the horses now that like to play to contact.
Did not work ot as every top seed went downIf the point is to make sure the tournament includes everyone who might reasonably be expected to win it, then 8 is the number. If the point is that, plus making more money, then there needs to be a play-in round for slots 5 through 8 so that the eventual winner, who will be one of the top seeds in all likelihood, doesn't essentially have to play a second season to get it.
They could have used a solid FG kicker as wellLet’s instead give Conference Champs the option of a bye or a home game. Zero programs would take the home game.
To say ASU didn’t deserve a #4 based on an OT loss to Texas — who only lost, twice, to Georgia — is silly. ASU was awesome, and also got robbed on the targeting call.
8’s enough, but also 4 was enough. The next option is 16 or perhaps 24, and I’ve got no interest in those.
Go Irish (ducks).
Exactly. Once the whistle blew the rest of the rules screwed usThat sequence at the end was the epitome of a catch 22.
The whistle blew because it was goaltending.
Because there was goaltending, the put back does not count.
But we have to review the goaltending to make sure it was the correct call.
As it turns out, it was not a goaltend.
But because the whistle made the play dead, the put back does not count.
So there is no goaltending, there is no put back, and no basket for the cats.
Have a nice day.
Yep. The lakeside stadium looked incredible on TV but talk about a bizarre solution to host a major minor league football brand from the Big TenBob,
I agree that a bad product on the field keeps people away. But even though we had a good season in ‘23, especially given what transpired that summer, at least from my vantage point in the north end zone, we didn’t fill the stadium for any of the first three games. And that was at a point in the season when there was still hope.
What ever happpened To wrassler? He disappeared around same time as Turk.Where’s @wrassler when you need him?

If the zebras want to call touches, we have the horses now that like to play to contact. It's a bullshit "observation" when defenders on Ace aren't even touching him and he initiates contact to draw the foul while at the same time, PSU - including ACE - are defensively putting two hands on Cats players all night long with no calls.
Bardo was just trying to find some justification for the terrible officiating he clearly wasn't willing to mention. I suspect the announcers are contractually obligated to not discuss the refs in any negative way regardless what is happening.
He could more honestly have said 'the Cats should know by now that the refs will call a foul on them if they get within three feet of Ace and they should just let him score at will to avoid more free throws.'
I loved the foul on Berry as he was running away from the play. Had no volume so guessing it was a foul for giving up on defending? That would be a fun new foul to add…It's a bullshit "observation" when defenders on Ace aren't even touching him and he initiates contact to draw the foul while at the same time, PSU - including ACE - are defensively putting two hands on Cats players all night long with no calls.

We need the rant back!Excited to see Jeb Bush’s campaign? (Just kidding. No one was excited about that one, not even Jeb.)
I am with you - and those drones on the east coast! Where are we at with them!Finally... the Rant Board is back! Good... we have a lot to catch up on.
Can you believe what Mitt Romney said in that second debate?!?! What a boob.
And can you believe some of these decisions from Kathleen Sebelius? Don't get me started.
Ok.... I need to pace myself here! Getting way too excited. I better go lie down.
i would love to go back. Plane is just about to come out of overhaul with a new engine. But I’m in FL and plane is still in the shop…Anyone going? I’m thinking I will if the snow isn’t too bad.
And then see my solution aboveThis happens regularly because... say it with me... Northwestern men's basketball is not a glamor program. Pundits pick it yearly to finish last in the conference, so there are no repercussions when they get screwed.
I would counter the opposite though respect your opinion. I would like to believe that our fan base says to admin that if they will not field a competitive team, we will not fill their coffers. And no phony ‘do it for the kids’ crap will work. Our fan base sucks. We are so outnumbered here it’s embarrassing. We couldn’t fill the temporary stadium. The new one will still find us in the minority.
“Will?”I think you nailed it. The B1G and SEC will rule CFB.
Add he was an early 20 something damaged kid leading this unpopular but correct campaign. Tell us gcg - have you always been perfect or was that a recent onset?I think that's fair.
Unfortunately, I think there was a lot of CYOA in that situation. To think these guys are anything but employees of the school in a multi-billion dollar enterprise is probably living in the 1950s. Waiting until it was too late to come up with a workable framework that kept most of what we enjoy intact with a sensible solution is no longer in the cards, I'm afraid.
