Game 2

Whether the level of competition is high or not doesn't really matter though right? Reps with each other, grow as a team, that's what matters. Get to know how to play together. Especially when the key to our success isn't going to be "out-talenting" other teams. Our secret sauce is going to have to be playing together with guys who fit into a sum being more than its parts.

So, do Gophs fans like PJ Fleck?

Fleck is just a very specific taste that requires a very specific palate. Eternal optimist to those who like him; fake windbag to those who don't. James Franklin also comes to mind.

Funny thing: I definitely met plenty of Big Ten fans over the years who hated Fitz and didn't buy his wonder bread boy scout image.
Probably because he beat them a lot

Trey Tyus

We should've found a way to keep Tyus!
There was no way to keep him unless we were willing to give him the ball. He never got close to 15 carries in an NU uniform. Tyus is a big back and a punishing running. The more carries he gets, the more he runs downhill. He wanted a chance to show that. He will have a great year at OU.

Biggest complaint about the stadium

Yeah, the south stands looked very empty on TV.
Like someone said, wealthy and loyal NU backers have a lot of points to get seasons tickets without the desire to go to a game or the need to scalp the tickets thus resulting in empty seats very visible in a small stadium that can be easily scanned by network camera crews. Some of them might have been on those motorboats shown on TV.

Biggest complaint about the stadium

Appropriate, since her announcing is at the high school level. I don't need Gus Johnson hyperbole, but she's as boring as hell
I will say that I enjoyed seeing Jared Thomas on the broadcast. Lisa at one point corrected herself by saying that he's not a former football player but is a current one, which I assume means he's still hanging around in a pro league somewhere. I believe he was in the arena football league a few years ago. Glad he's still pursuing his dream, and he did a good job on the TV broadcast.

How are we not happier here?

I’m actually most heartened that the offense DIDNT play well. The talent is apparent and there is room to grow.

Defense is a bunch of absolute dogs though.
This was the story from this game; our defense will keep us in a lot of games if it's this stingy... just like how the Hank years and Braun year (as DC) went.

When your defense gives you that much margin for error, you can win a lot of games as we've seen the past 15-20 years. I felt very confident that we could win at halftime, just felt like defense was going to keep making plays and it was just a matter of Wright and co putting together a drive as they did quickly.

Biggest complaint about the stadium

North side concession stand did not have waters at the beginning of half time.

We finally have the high school stadium visiting fans like to complain about.

I had a great time, though!
On the broadcast, Lisa Byington literally compared it to a Texas high school stadium, and Jared Thomas laughed nervously.
