Schiano making friends

1. You out your second team out there and let them execute some runs. No problem. Watch the clip of Schiano watching the play, he was clearly watching his second unit’s execution closely and had to restrain himself from a fist pump for the good play as the clock expired.

2. Howard coach used timeouts to extend the game late. Don’t extend the game in a blowout and whine.
1. He may not of fist pumped but he sure has hell vigorously clapped. I am ok running plays up until the very last one where it was to me rubbing it in.

2. He was losing by a million. Trying to score there rather than giving up at least sends a message to the kids to keep trying.

So, do Gophs fans like PJ Fleck?

Generally speaking Goofs fans have remains mostly happy with Fleck and pointed out he’s had more good years than the Gophers have had in many years. I also think they’re entranced by his schtick a bit too. The grumbles have been in the minority and not too serious.

I do see some more serious grumbling after last night, and if he has another season like last year this year, which is very very possible given how important last night’s game was on their schedule, he could start to have a truly warming seat for the first time in his entire career.

Speculation on Pitt AD Heather Lyke as next AD

I think NU leaked it, just like NU leaked the names when Polisky was elevated.

(Wazzu guy and Duke woman. I don’t remember names because who remembers AD names unless they’re havahahahahahahahah Trev Alberts hahahahahahahahahahah Trev Alberts hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha)

Lyke also leaked and gotten a great bump from it.

Maybe Wright leaked it and got something out of it. I didn’t realize that he actually resigned from the pres role and is now just a consultant. (Oh man does that mean he and Snyder are tight? Oh no!)

Anyway, that was my reaction because I’m also a cynic in some regard. I think the new guy is a great hire. I regret that I have detracted from some of the discussion of the hire itself, but that appears limited to, “looks like a solid hire.”

I dropped a great joke in my initial post about how Gragg is going to solve this with his biweekly (usually cancelled) meetings with Schill. (“Hey, on the Wildcat football board, they’re saying OSU has $20 million. Could we also get $20 million? Positively, Derrick Gragg.”) (That’s an example of his agenda email, but Schill wasn’t available this past Wednesday.)

Derrick Gragg is so bad and so rich.

Parking ideas?

I think Gragg’s parking spot is an option. Or the one reserved for Schill.
Im planning on parking in downtown Evanston for $5 bucks. Check SpotHero app. 1.2 mile walk to the stadium. Shuttle available with drop off on Sheridan near Long field. Plenty of takeout options near downtown to pack a pregame meal to enjoyon a bench on the lakefront campus ( Hecky's BarBQ,Evanston Chicken Shack etc). A bit different from past years but a nice affordable alternative.

Villanova's Mark Jackson officially named Northwestern's new athletic director

This is the first time I can recall that NU has poached from a peer athletic department.

Big Ten football — especially with the latest expansion — makes NU a step up in difficulty from the Villanova job. But I generally agree that this is a big-time hire.

Tomorrow promises to be quite a first football game. (Thanks, Coach.)

So, do Gophs fans like PJ Fleck?

They probably should’ve won last night. Then again, their kicker is pretty great and botched two.

Fleck has recruited one decent quarterback, and he’s gone. Last years bad QB is now Rutgers’ bad QB.

And this year’s QB is a four-year grad transfer from New Hampshire. He looked better than “Brad Johnson’s son” at North Carolina, I thought.

Also,
The QB shuffle is definitely my least favorite part about modern college football, though it’s been the best way for NU to find someone playable. Hopefully Romain and whoever is to follow will lettuce forget this decade-plus in the woods of QB recruiting.

Greek Game live stream

Re Fitzmagic, it took some time for Tydus to adjust to B1G play coming from UTEP, but I thought he became an effective bench player. His ORtg - DRtg for us was 18.6, which is really damn good (although a bit exaggerated for guys with limited minutes).

I think Fitz can have a similar impact, though his skills are more geared to offense.
I had the same reaction when I saw someone writing it. 1 second of confusion on who the guy is. Followed by strangeness. Followed by embracing it.
