Sullivan the better QB at IA scrimmage?

Yeah, but that was before Fitz realized he was a genius. 😳🙄😳
Not to "well, actually" you, but...Thorson averaged 35 attempts/game over his last 3 seasons and was at 40+ attempts in 13 of the 40 games he played in. His QB rating was 120.5 in the 40+ attempt games vs 126.1 in the others.

Notebook: Braun stays tight-lipped about starters ahead of season opener

I don't think the issue is difficulty in terms of friction, I think the issue is how to scale up from 85 to 105 scholarships and whether to have walk ons or not.

At least that's my read on the situation.

Right now roster is at 111.

I think football won't be increasing scholarship numbers and instead will be under pressure to reduce. The reason is that other sports also are seeing increased scholarship limits per the new NCAA guidelines and will be looking to add. For example, lacrosse, softball and field hockey have been highly successful but to maintain their success likely believe they need more scholarships. NU has a finite budget on what it is willing to spend on athletics and undoubtedly they will be looking to keep overall scholarship costs the same.

Anyone up to speed on Miami OH?

Probably will be better than a couple Big Ten teams; I'm definitely in the camp that this would be as good of a win as a win against Duke or the lower rated Big Ten teams on our schedule.
Duke is unbeatable. I’m nervous.

. I'm also cautiously optimistic that Lujan is an offensive prodigy and this Saturday will be a good indication of whether he's FBS-ready out of the gate.
I’m thinking of the 2000 season opener against NIU, when the ‘multiple-I’ Cats were suddenly spreading. Of course, Lujan’s offense already exists on film. But so much of modern offense is using deception and speed to give easy pass-and-catch, and that just wasn’t in Bajakian’s mindset.

Actually, I think NU will win.

Anyone up to speed on Miami OH?

Thanks, everyone. I know Miami would be no slouch, I'm not seeing as much optimism as I would have otherwise hoped here for this game, but I'll take comfort in some blind faith and knowledge that the first game of the season can go haywire in either direction, which will maybe favor us here. I'm also cautiously optimistic that Lujan is an offensive prodigy and this Saturday will be a good indication of whether he's FBS-ready out of the gate.

The comments around there being difficulty with administration over the 105 spot roster limit is infuriating.

I can’t believe there’s any chance that Wright isn’t the starter, based just on experience alone. Braun can try throwing this curveball but Miami’s DC would be stupid not to assume that Wright isn’t our guy.
Yeah, I agree. I wouldn't mind being wrong, and I CAN envision a new OC making a difference; however, it feels like Wright is just better. Lausch had one long run v UTEP, and averaged <2ypc other than that.

Anyone up to speed on Miami OH?

Well we had a habit of playing down to or below our competition under the previous coach. And while their players may be more experienced and more skilled, they were definitely not as heavily recruited. Most if not all of the players on the Miami OH roster would have been a Cat had we offered. Here’s hoping that Braun’s FCS roots will somehow underscore a respect for non Power 5 teams and help prevent this maddening syndrome and put an end to losing to MAC and FCS teams.
