WLP 2023 Big Ten Previews

Hey Gang,

This is just an update for the WildcatReport Fam that we'll be jumping into our Summer Big Ten Previews tomorrow! As a lot of you are probably aware, we put a ton of effort into these and go team-by-team throughout the summer starting with the no-plays and then running through the entire NU schedule.

You may agree or disagree with our takes, but our main goal is always to try to catch everyone up on exactly where the entire Big Ten is right now and how NUFB fits into that picture.

First preview drops tomorrow, and we'll update links here for anyone who might be interested.

Thanks as always!

New statement from President Schill

Schill announces "an independent review of the processes and accountability mechanisms in place at the University to detect, report and respond to potential misconduct in its athletics programs, including hazing, bullying and discrimination of any kind" that is to be lead by former United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

WLP First-Half Schedule Preview

Hey Gang,

We had to audible this summer, because we still wanted to get Big Ten Preview content out, but, obviously, the whole middle of the summer was basically put in the blender this year.

We ended up deciding to do a First-Half/Second-Half format for the next 2 weeks to look at all of the team's on NU's schedule. It's Rutgers through Howard this week, with the second half up next week.

Rutgers certainly has its warts as always, Minnesota is going through a substantial transition period on offense, and Penn State loses a couple of the best players in the conference from last season. But still...not a lot of good news here. PSU still looks like a monster, CUSA turnover has UTEP eyeing a special season, and Duke might be one of the best teams in the ACC. Heck, even Howard had two running backs go for 151/6.9ypc/2TDs against USF last year.

Thanks as always,

Loretta Lynch

We just hired her to do an investigation of the Athletic Department. Can we please get rid of Schill and Gragg ASAP before they run this school and athletic program completely into the ground? It's borderline comical at this point, or it would be if it wasn't our own university they are systematically torching with mistake after mistake. This is virtually guaranteed to further the media circus around this mess, not help resolve anything.

I thought the Skip Holtz hire was a sensible thing and maybe we had turned a bit of a corner toward minor stabilization, but nope just wait one day later and another boneheaded decision arrives. Like clockwork. I am wondering if Skip is doing this as a favor to Fitz and/or Braun to help him out. Wouldn't expect that a conversation with Gragg would convince him to come on board, that would probably have him running in the opposite direction.
