Newly offered 2026 DT King Liggins ready for Wrigley visit

I checked in with Chicago Brother Rice defensive tackle King Liggins about his recent offer from Northwestern, his ongoing recruitment and his upcoming visit to Wrigley Field.

Northwestern Should be a Basketball School

Making a full thread on this. I'm a football guy over basketball by a wide margin, but last night just emphasizes that NU is better suited to be a basketball school. The crowd is great and our campus and students are quick to pack out Welsh-Ryan, unlike football where it's a constant struggle even when the team is alright. We get a much higher percent in purple, and our small stadium is a true atmospheric advantage in many ways. There is a MUCH larger national history of small academic schools being premium basketball programs. Chicago seems like the perfect place for a little basketball school to be.

Jackson, Schmidt, and the department should act accordingly. Football shouldn't be starved, it's still the cash cow and we should still invest enough for a competitive and respectable team, but when making revenue sharing and other resource decisions the emphasis should be on dollars for hoops. For example, if the typical football school is taking their $20 million in revenue sharing and giving $14 million to football, $4 million to basketball, and $2 million to everything else, NU should give football $11M and basketball $7M.

Zoom In-Game Discussion: Ohio State at NU Saturday Nov 16, 11:00 AM CT

If you are a Northwestern fan and watching the game on TV (or streaming it), you are welcome to join us for a live Zoom discussion during the game. It's a great way to share the experience with others as you watch.

One thing you should be aware of is that TV and streaming are not always in sync with real time. It is not unusual for some viewers to be 30 seconds ahead of others, which leads to an interesting dynamic during the game watch. You can often tell by the reactions of others if something good or bad is about to happen. To me, it just makes it more interesting.

I hope that you can join us on via Zoom on Saturday at 11:00 AM CT.

OSU Don’t expect the unexpected

The last time I was this sure the Cats had no chance to win an upcoming game was ND in 1995.

It would take an incredible set of weird bounces, bad calls and the best performance of the year by NU on both sides of the ball for it to even be close.
All that being said, I kind of hope the coaching staff used the bye week to install a gadget play that springs a big gain. For example, I would love (with Kirtz unavailable) to install a sequence where Wright lines up as a wideout and runs jet sweep motion with 3 options: straight jet sweep that catches the chaser not realizing how fast he is in motion, or pull up and pass not realizing he is a QB, or a reverse back to Henning or Himon if they overplay the motion.

One can dream.

+/- for the "W" I saw over UIC

I did not intend on doing the numbers for this game, thinking our opponent was overmatched, but the Flames had enough talent out there to warrant inclusion in the season's stats.

Smith312-1-0.10-0.30
Hunger203943-4+0.03-0.78
Windham286053+7-9.34-7.94

This game can be fairly described as a team win. Only Windham had a rough night, playing 28 minutes without making a shot. Nicholson's raw +15 stands out.
Nicholson played 12 segments (each lineup change starts a new segment) and we didn't get outscored in any of those segments.
Of the little lineup notes, Nicholson and Mullins played 7 minutes together and NU outscored UIC 19-11 over those segments.
Both Leach and Mullins played the final 10:46 of the game, so Coach Collins obviously like what he was seeing from those two.
On the flipside, Ciaravino did not play the final 9:07 after committing a silly foul.

I'll add anything I notice later. Just wanted to get the numbers posted.

HOOPS RECRUITING Northwestern basketball signs all five 2025 commits

Northwestern secured its Class of 2025 as all five commits signed their athletic aid agreements this morning. Here's WildcatReport's breakdown of each player and the class overall.

John Robinson RIP

Great Coach,,,,,heard a good person. but all I can remember is him throwing shade our way after the Rose Bowl..in the post game.....am I remembering that correctly....and even though we lost NU played a good, competitive game...take away Keshon Johnson and a call or two and that game was ours.
Anyway a good coach...89 they are saying
