The Cats would have the same record as a team that played in last year’s championship game, and also as a team that beat a team that played in last year’s championship game in its opener and got huge national attention as a result?

I admittedly was very pessimistic and thought that 2-10 was the likely season outcome.

Happy to be very wrong!

Many thought if 2 things happened this team could be competitive.

1). Braun could bring some semblance of sound defense back to the team. The defense that JON single-handedly destroyed

2). QB play could at least be average and not a hindrance

#1 has happened. #2 has had flashes even though it hasn’t been consistent.

Definitely not a Dark Ages season. The patient is in serious but stable condition. This is impressive after the summer sh*tstorm, the defections, distractions, coaching staff shakeups. The UTEP and Howard games? Not exactly supernatural developments. What was unexpected are the 2 wins eked out from the quartet of low to mid-tiered programs, Maryland, Rutgers, Minnesota or Nebraska - especially the one from the Minnesota game.
