The others are Zach Edey (Purdue), Terrence Shannon (Illinois), and Jahmir Young (Maryland).

Seeing those lists I am not sure what Dawson Garcia has done to be in any of them. And Jamison Battle was an all conference type of players a couple of years ago. And then, last year, became very mundane.

The thing with pre-season lists and awards is... you still have to play the season. Brandon Joseph found that out a few years ago after being named pre-season B1G Defensive Player of the Year after his huge freshman year. What the heck does that even mean? But glad Buie is getting the recognition, now he just has to play the season and earn the award at the end of the season.

There is a small, scared child inside of me who is terrified that Boo is going to regress this year and struggle. But that is because I am an NU fan and I have been scarred by tragedy to not expect nice things for NU sports.

Well, Battle did have "minor foot surgery" 10 days before the season started last year. Don't think any foot surgery is truly minor for a basketball player, would imagine it hurt him all season.

I agree with your words. And have no issue with Garcia earning pre-season whatever. He is talented, even if I don't think he's lived up to the hype he started with at Marquette.

What I find a bit of a disconnect with my (perhaps lying) yes is the "Garcia, Reese, and Tominaga receiving Honorable Mention". This was for last year.

It's in our blood. My hope is that he will be a more effective field general on court this year.

"I think he's a potential second round pick"

What else can you base it on?

Not sure what Gato meant by that, but there are the media awards, then there are guys the analysts really like, the there are the players the stats guys love, then there are the guys the pro scouts really like... and most importantly there are the guys that WE really like.

Nicholson vs Omoruyi for 2nd team All Big Ten (behind Edey). I thought Matt outplayed Cliff last year when NU beat Rutgers. Am I biased? You're damned right I am. Edge to Nicholson.

Buie vs Jahmir Young of Maryland. Buie had a better overall season, but head to head, Young won that battle.
Edge to Buie who should benefit from more offensive weapons around him.

Barnhizer vs Wisconsin's Tyler Wahl? Come on now - Barnhizer.

Having said that, the best pure scorer in the 2nd half of the Big Ten last year was Keisei Tominaga of Nebraska.
In the Cornhuskers last 9 games, he averaged 20.3 ppg, making 40 of 57 2-pointers (70%) and 28 of 65 3-pointers (43%). Nebraska won 6 of those 9 games. He should get more than "Honorable Mention" this season.
