what is our NIL situation? somehow it seems other schools have alot more money than we do, however somehow we have brand new very expensive facilities, costlier than at other schools.

My guess would be vain donors are giving money to things they can put their name on instead of NIL collectives.

I do not know because NIL collectives aren’t publicly reported anywhere. So it’s conjecture on how much NU has (or doesn’t have). But the fact that football saw a many key starters leave for paydays at other schools would lead one to assume NU couldn’t afford to keep them. Transfer and prep recruiting would seem to suggest they’re not exactly making strong offers. Braun bragged about how his football recruiting class didn’t receive a penny of NIL money… these are all anecdotal but the fact that they’re completely out of sync with conference peers would at least suggest that there is an NIL gap there.

2) The ok-but-not-great NU source tells me Jackson and Collins get along well. He believes this is a play for an extension by CC's agent and it will work out in the end.

3) But if Mick Cronin is in play ... hmmmmm? Don't ask me if I'd sacrifice CC for Cronin. You may not like the answer. If I were Jackson, I'd put in a call juuuuuuuuuuust in case.

Really? It sort of seems like nobody on here has a clue what’s going on. I’m just sharing what Goodman and other national reporters have said on their paywalled sites, and so far those all seem to be more accurate and informed than what anyone on here has said… But sure, if you want to believe what sources within the NU infrastructure are feeding “reporters” who run an NU Fan Site instead of what national reporters (and the actual results) say about what’s going on, then go for it

You have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to NU and NIL and how they compensate their players. That's what you were talking about in the post I replied to. Nothing to do with coaches or coaching searches.

I have an offshoot of the same question. If CC stays, does this end up with a sizeable extension and a large buyout?

If not, I assume this is our new reality and CC finds a new gig in the next three years max.
