I hadn't heard the actual broadcast until I stumbled upon that. It's almost better than it was live...almost.

They were excellent, as opposed to the Big Ten Championship game team who called “Touchdown Wisconsin!” on our first score.
That’s awesome, thanks for posting. Love Gus. Might have to look up a game replay to watch.

Gaziano didn't look small, weak, or slow on that play. He looked like a freakin monster.... wait for it... GAZILLA!
Maybe I don't watch enough football on TV, but I watched the entire game without sound, and I thought the camera work was terrific--REALLY good closeups of the action--they got right down into the game so you could see the players emotional responses. Much, much better than the BTN and even ESPN. FOX has it figured out--perhaps because it was a bowl game, but I don't remember camera work this good, ever.
Utah had defensive backs playing on offense? Who knew......How about that BIG sluggish speed exhibited by just a Northwestern linebacker?
A linebacker burned the speedy defensive backs of PAC 12!
Who would have thought that???
Ok, smart ass. Speedy wide receivers. Happy now?Utah had defensive backs playing on offense? Who knew......

That’s it. No cutaways during gameplay to designated player of the day’s parents, sideline reporters, extended shots of fan reactions, pre-produced clips about player stories etc. That stuff is great for the Olympics. I don’t so much like it breaking into the middle of a series in a football game like it does on ESPN.I think Fox uses about half the number of camera cuts between plays, and uses many fewer extraneous shots (random fans, coordinators in press box) and by doing so, allow the viewer much better sense of continuity of the action. The ESPN style book seems more focused on creating an event rather than showing the game, in my opinion.
It was probably the best broadcast team I’ve heard call a Cats game.
Admittedly, I may be a little biased now as the entire 2nd half seemed to be pro NU discussions. But I’d be sure to record any game they cover. They were excellent, as opposed to the Big Ten Championship game team who called “Touchdown Wisconsin!” on our first score.
After watching the replay, IMO the announcing during most of the game was good, but in pregame and early in the game all they seemed to talk about was all the injuries to Utah players (sounded like Utah had 30 starters missing), and only a brief mention of Larkin having to retire. They made it seem like if NU won, it was because Utah was playing so short-handed. Admittedly, the announcers seemed to really get into the 3rd quarter comeback, and they correctly pointed out the phantom offensive interference called against NU.It was probably the best broadcast team I’ve heard call a Cats game.

However, the flip side of an FS1 game... we had 1.8M viewers vs 5.1M for the Gator Bowl which ran opposite us. And pretty far down the list overall. Looks like ours doesn't include streaming viewers but I wouldn't think that changes the story substantially. That’s awesome, thanks for posting. Love Gus. Might have to look up a game replay to watch.
So where will he line-up next season? To be fair, until the Holiday Bowl, Jared McGee was a DB.
They would not have been DBs he was outrunningHow about that BIG sluggish speed exhibited by just a Northwestern linebacker?

haha yeah McGee showed a nice burst on that scoop and score, but let's keep in mind he was outrunning their OL. #25 their RB caught up a bit of ground on him later but not really enough to get close. The smoothness with which he grabbed it and then accelerated immediately was what made it work. They would not have been DBs he was outrunning
