Game Thread: Northwestern vs. Miami (Ohio)

The D Line is really REALLY disrupting the passing game. When Gabbert isn’t hit he usually has to move.

Wright looked fantastic on that drive; hopefully that gets him going; great throw to Gordon.

Different body types, but *that* looked like a Clayton Thorson scramble.

Wright dropped back, looked the way of both Minitron (who was split right) and Henning (who had motioned that way), and then tucked and ran. It looks like he had a chance to dump off to Gordon as well, but obviously his decision worked out well.

Veteran play. Excellent drive. 8 for 62 yards with a couple of third down conversions.

Sure, and thorson could scoot when he got going, but he did not have the ability to see his lane and be 0 to 60 in one step like wright. When Wright turns on the jets they are ON

Ok… let’s hope that DQ commercial isn’t on all season.

138 yards, 9 first downs for NU.
112 yards, 7 first downs for Miami.

Miami is <2 yards per carry while NU is >4. Wright’s first carry was 20 yards, but he lost six yards on his other three carries.

3 sacks for NU. Defense looks great.

I feel good that NU will win, but I’d rather be up 10-3. 🤷‍♂️
NU outgained Miami 129-45 in the third period. Eight first downs for NU, two for Miami.

More dominant than the scoreboard shows. I’d really like two touchdowns two touchdowns along with that field goal in the fourth.

Not sure why he didn’t try to get two hands on it. It was a pretty good ball thrown where he only could catch it. Hard grab but it was doable.
He didn’t seem to react to where it was until too late. He was sorta headed for the back line instead of the sideline, ended a step off line

Jaiden Cameron has been around forever, always injured, and so great to see him out there finally making plays. Think he started at NU in either 2019 or 2020

Thumbs up to year one of the Braun/McGarigle physical defense experience. This is physical, Patty Fitz NU defense
