Annual study assessing the value of college football teams.

The author of the study analyzed "each program’s revenues and expenses and made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections to calculate what a college team would be worth on the open market, if it could be bought and sold like a professional franchise."

Northwestern ranked #45 with a value of $149.5M

$45 M less than Minny is a bit shocking. My guess is that it boils down to the stadium and its ability to generate new revenue. UM data suggests that the Goofs pretty much sell out TCF every game (about 50k).

The list only includes the Top 5, and the B1G teams in the top 50, and then I guess the mention of UIUC is a "Ha-Ha" type of mention.
