McCall had a qb completing 80% of his passes and he only called 10 pass plays?

This....Success of McCall’s offense depends on a great running and throwing QB who is healthy. Not a good running and throwing QB, but a great one. His offense was best under Dan Persa who fit that better than any other NU QB. Kafka was successful because he was always a threat to run (ie Minny game years ago). That’s why McCall needed to have Colter (runner) and Siemien (thrower) alternate. The offense under Thorsen pretty much stalled when Thorsen was not a running threat. Even at Bowling Green, McCall was only successful because he had Josh Harris who had excellent running and throwing skills.
The problem is that it is very very difficult to recruit QB’s who are great runners and great throwers. They are very few and far between. How many power 5 teams have multiple QB’s on the roster (in case of injury) with those skills? Almost none, of any. As we have seen this year, NU does not have one healthy QB who is a great runner and thrower. Hunter Johnson has the greatest skills of all the QB’s but still doesn’t have the skills required to successfully run McCall’s offense against power 5 opponents.
McCall has benefited from some very talented QB’s and one very talented RB (JJTBC) that made the offense acceptable for a great bend but not break defense who created turnovers.
We’ve seen all the current QB’s that McCall has to work with. NU will not be successful in the near future with his offense and these players. For the benefit of the NU football programs future success, a change in offensive leadership and scheme is absolutely required at this time.

I think you are joking. But if you are apologizing for McCall then you know 0% of football. There is 0 logical chance that McCall coaches here or anywhere else next year (High School excepted).McCall had a qb completing 80% of his passes and he only called 10 pass plays?

He has been incredibly awful and has milked this job for the last 7 years. Good riddance ahead of time!
What should have come first is Marty playing sooner, apparently. What comes first, the chicken or the egg?
Very well said. This has been apparent for quite a while, but I don't think anyone has said it this clearly.Success of McCall’s offense depends on a great running and throwing QB who is healthy. I'm not a fan of McCall, but it's funny how many of the very same fans who were disparaging Marty only recently are now his biggest fan and wondering why he wasn't anointed a starter earlier.
Then it likely will be the only chuckle Fitz and team eek out this season.People rambling about things about which they have no knowledge is usually funny to those who do.

While it requires a solid QB, I don't think it requires a great one. Most offenses require something similar. And while we have had solid QBs, I do not think we have really had a great one. As far as having both running and throwing skills, it is called dual threat QB and there are a number of them available each year. And generally the best runners don't have the best arms (Colter) which could account for the shorter pass routes than many would like to seeSuccess of McCall’s offense depends on a great running and throwing QB who is healthy. If he is moved to another position (still a coach) and everyone comes back, where is the open slot for a new OC?I predict: McCall is moved / offered a position coach spot or some other place in the football staff. Much like Jerry Brown who as defense coordinator oversaw a complete porous defense was moved to Assistant Head Coach / Defensive Back Coach years ago. There is too much loyalty to show McCall the door, a reworking of the staff is probably what will happen and a new offense coordinator from elsewhere with NU ties the most likely outcome.
Then who here sees the humor?People rambling about things about which they have no knowledge are usually funny to those who do.
