Newsome

Incredible. Those first few strides... you don't see that from just anyone.

agree certainly passes the eye test and great first step. that said a hand time 4.31 usually translates to about 4.5 electronic (although quite variable I imagine). He looks fast enough that speed won't keep him from being a top 5 DB.

I think a sundial is accurate to within 6 minutes. Therefore Newsome ran somewhere between 6 min and 4 seconds and negative 5 minutes and 56 seconds.
Which basically means I'm pretty much as fast as he is.

4.38 official time
Can’t run that without a really good 10 yard and 20 yard split. I think there were legitimate concerns about his level of athleticism leading up to this, but his numbers should allay those. He doesn’t have elite athleticism, but he is pretty darn close, and certainly has enough for the NFL. He probably made himself into a first rounder with that workout.

His athleticism looked elite to me.

Maybe not Olympian, but his athleticism looked pretty elite to me on the field even without the 4.38 forty under his belt. He played like a guy with a 4.38 forty.

Pretty darn close. He would be near the top of it in most classes. He has a bit more power and perhaps a tad less agility than the Combine killers. But at that point, it is splitting hairs. Again, if there were concerns about his athleticism, his Pro Day should have put them to rest.

He basically tested right in line with Jeff Okudah. That’ll play.

Definitely. I think there were some concerns about his athleticism before his Pro day. Maybe it’s that dumb “unathletic” Northwestern stereotype. But he put those concerns to rest with this workout.

Agreed. It was pretty easy to see that Newsome is athletic enough to hang at the next level.

My only real concern is his hands. Greg likes to grab and may get flagged quite a bit as a rookie. The NFL no longer tolerates the “legion of boom” style aggressiveness/defensive holding that is prevalent in the college game .

Long term, I’m confident he’ll adjust/gain savvy and I wouldn’t be shocked it someone’s #1 CB for years to come. He is that talented.

Paddy's workout didn't help said stereotype from what "draftnik" Twitter tells me. They're idiots but there are alot if them...

Middle linebacker might be the position where great college play is most uncorrelated or disconnected from NFL draft scouting.Atleast today. Paddy would have been a high draft pick 20 years ago, but Mikes today are expected to roam beyond the hash and drop into deeper zones. Poor Paddy. Such a great player for us but will have to have some luck toget a shot.

That includes 4.38 any further questions ?
I think add the 40 inch jump and that what makes him so effective. Great speed to stay on the man and a big hop to get to the ball at the last second. I don't know how they test for the timing of that combination but he has it.
