With USC & UCLA jumping to the B1G and the playoffs basically wiping out the tradition of the Rose Bowl, let’s pay our respects to the Grannddaddy of them All.

How will fans feel when the Rose Bowl features Oregon vs USC in a few years?

Maybe we should hold off on the RB funeral notice. Our son has posed the possibility that the Granddaddy of Bowls will now be in position to attract the champs of both expanded Big Ten and SEC. He claims that Univ of Alabama, of all schools, has mention of the Rose Bowl in its official fight song's lyrics! (I have no confirmation of that.)

One justification (aside from massive $$$ potential) would be the multiple appearances of the Tide in early Rose Bowls before codification of the Big 10-Pac 12 competition. As Alabama goes, so would probably go the other SEC schools.

Just saying: stranger things have happened, and may be happening at this moment.

Rose Bowl is likely to host the higher of the Big Ten or Pac-12 champion that is in the top 4 champions and gets a bye.

That was in the outline they voted for...

While it sucks if the rumors are to believed, road trips to Seattle and Eugene will more than make up for it.

How will fans feel when the Rose Bowl features Northwestern and one of the teams still left in the PAC (whatever) in a few years?

Or, when Northwestern plays UCLA (again) as part of conference play?
