I realize nobody outside of this board cares about NU football, but this is truly the stuff The Daily has lived for for a century.

Yeah. I do kind of wonder if a university without Medill would have had such a quick response from its student paper.

The university's mishandling of this situation is absolutely unbelievable. They seemed to think that they could conclude an investigation with all details kept private, give Fitz a 2-week vacation, and that would be the end of it. I can't believe they could be so naive. They had to know that details would emerge.

I wonder if that's specific to NU or endemic of the inertia that is part and parcel of a university. I can't think of any scandal that was handled properly in recent years from a crisis communications standpoint: Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan and Dr. Anderson. Maybe NU in the 90s with the point-shaving, but definitely not the AD mess and now this.
