This was first bowl game we've ever won while wearing white jerseys. It also marked our 4th straight bowl victory while wearing black helmets. Here's the data:

Our overall bowl record is now 5-10. Our postseason record is 5-11 (counting the Big Ten title game).

Our record, by helmets we've worn:
Purple 1-10 (1-11 counting the Indy game).
Black 4-0.
(we have never worn white helmets in any postseason game).

Our record, by jerseys we've worn:
Purple 4-2.
White 1-5 (1-6 if we include B1G championship).
Black 0-3.

Our record, by pants we've worn:
Purple 1-3.
Black 2-2.
White 2-5 (2-6, counting Indy).

And here's the complete record, by entire uniform combination, from top to bottom i.e. helmets listed first, followed by jerseys, then pants:

Black-purple-black 2-0 (2013 Gator, 2016 Pinstripe).
Black-purple-purple 1-0 (2017 Music City).
Black-white-white 1-0 (2018 Holiday).
Purple-purple-white 1-1 (1949 Rose, 2008 Alamo).
Purple-white-black 0-1 (2011 TicketCity).
Purple-purple-black 0-1 (2011 Meineke Car Care).
Purple-black-purple 0-3 (1996 Rose, 1997 Citrus, 2000 Alamo).
Purple-white-white 0-4 (2003 Motor City, 2005 Sun, 2010 Outback, 2016 Outback); 0-5 counting Indy.

Bottom line: Never wear that Purple-white-white combo again, and stick with those black helmets in the postseason.

It's funny because I was thinking about this after the game but was too lazy to look it up. Thanks for doing the work.

I loved our helmets btw; the black helmets with the purple N and the number on the opposite side looked great on TV.
