How many wins?

As you say, hard to get to even 4 wins. Maybe Purdue but don't know who else we have a shot against. Hope I am wrong
I have no idea why people have suddenly decided Maryland is anything to be more concerned than usual about. Also I get Indiana looks improved, but let’s all take a chill pill crowning them because they’ve beat up some FCS teams and a completely incompetent and crappy UCLA

Where we stand post-Washington debacle

Exactly right. All we need is a C+ offensive to go bowling. If Lausch stinks though against IU, with Cam back, we are toast.
I would disagree and say all we need is a C- or even D+ offense to bowl, but our schedule is so unfriendly (and getting unfriendlier with the emergence to feistiness of Indiana… Maryland scares me zero) that I’m afraid we do need a C or better offense to get to 6.

To get to 5-7 we can maybe just Big Ten West zombie rock fight it out.

OT: Legalizing Sports Gambling Was a Huge Mistake (Atlantic)

We all agree that there are too many d*mn sports gambling ads, but also, the evidence is pretty clear that legalized gambling decreases savings, increases bankruptcies, and even increases domestic violence.

I’ve got several former colleagues who now work to make payments at one of the major online sports sites more frictionless; to me, it’s as bad as if they were working for Phillip Morris in the 90s.

Gross.

Some people are problem gamblers. Some people are problem drinkers. Many many people are problem spenders.

This doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have the right to do any of those things responsibly and accept the consequences of doing so.

Don’t drink, don’t smoke, lay off the drugs, don’t spend money you don’t have, don’t shot your enemy, don’t eat too much fatty meats, wear your helmet when riding your bicycle, wear your seatbelt, don’t play football it causes CTE, don’t swim with the sharks, don’t vape, don’t bully, kids.
Don’t post about hazing scandals 🤣

Rationale on the goal line strategy?

- No Cam Porter and neither of our remaining two backs are competent power options
- Both guards and the center are all not the same guys who started the year in those spots due to injury. If you’re gonna stuff it up the middle these are the guys who are supposed to do it and you’re held together by duct tape and deep into depth there.
- Literally replaced the center mid game for a play that requires excellent center->QB execution
- Pretty clear gun-shyness after the weight fumble early (not justifying if this one is rational)
- Washington has a good D line and was selling out vs the run because our receivers were no threat

I’m not saying a QB run and/or sneak shouldn’t have been attempted, IMO at least one little pistol sneak by Lausch should have been tried (in addition to the three other run plays inside the 2 that were stuffed) but those are the reasons I can think of and some of them are at least reasonable on their own.

This was written back before the Tigers were the hottest team in baseball, but refers to exactly what you’re talking about.

Rationale on the goal line strategy?

Because we were getting ZERO push out of our OL. The running game was basically non existent. Hinmon had all of 15 yds rushing and it was ALL on one play, Komolafe averaged two yds per carry (he had one carry for 6 yds and averaged 1 ypc on the rest) Lausch was th most effective but he requires open field to have some holes. And inside the 5 with a compressed field it is even harder

When you see play sequences like that it sometimes means the OC is an idiot, but more likely it means that he has no confidence in his offensive line. Yeah, a B1G team should be able to line up from the 1 yard line and shove it into the end zone, but should doesn't mean can. I'm very hesitant to judge Lujan this year until we show that we can block consistently, because nothing works without blocking.

It's disgusting. What I hate seeing too is the teams getting so involved in it. When I can bear it, I watch Cincinnati Reds games and every night they have some game parlay thing they do with one of the gambling companies. It's part of the broadcast and it makes me ill.

It's also so easy to gamble on these sites with your phone, so it's like social media on crack for young kids. It is soooo easy to get addicted. I just hate that our sports leagues are celebrating this.

I gamble every single day and my savings haven’t decreased, I never filed BK, and have never committed any type of domestic violence.

You can’t put a full body condom over every element to society. People spend too much and get in serious debt without gambling. There are too many d*amn guns, yet they are prevalent in school shootings, people drink themselves to death, yet there is a liquor store around every corner, obese people die from heart failure because of poor eating habits, yet there is fast food chain on nearly every block. There is evidence that recreational pot leads some to harder drugs which lead to addiction.

NU offered Jake West and I thought - he must be plan "B". This morning I was like, this hoops recruiting stuff is bringing me down. I'll google this Jake West kid and see if he can play ...
