OT: Legalizing Sports Gambling Was a Huge Mistake (Atlantic)

Hey people want to gamble, that is their business. The major problem I have with it is that with so many folks doing it, you basically have to wonder about if the games are fixed. Everything is about profit and nothing more than profit. I basically dropped the NFL because of all the iffy calls being made, always at crucial moments that either sustained drives or killed them. Bad calls were somewhat rare 30 years ago, but now I would say around just below 40% are well, half assed calls. But then again, it would be masked by the reality that flags are indeed discretionary. Holding is indeed done on most plays, thus it is subjective on a ref calling it I wouldn't be surprised if the actual league could be involved in rigging games based on algorithms that predict what outcome will make the powers that be the most $$$$$$$$. With the ease of online gambling players, coaches, officials, could rig a game. Knowing this just kills the interest for me. Sad thing is it is creeping into CFB, and everything else.

UNLV QB takes redshirt due to NIL dispute

I hate it because it means the sport is being destroyed before our eyes.
100%. I don’t think people outside hardcore college sports fans realize what this is going to do to the casual following of CFB and probably CBB.

Why watch the minor leagues when you can watch the pros (NFL, NBA) since the sports will essentially be professional light in a few short years?

My prediction is CFB will go back to solely being a regional sport (southeast US) after all the work it did to finally become a national sport. Absolutely asinine.

Bye @ NU Prediction Thread

After a frustrating start to the B1G regular season at yet another lakeside stadium, the Cats welcome Bye to Evanston.

Cats fans are hoping that Bye will be an injury-free opportunity for the team to work on its offense which was kept out of the end zone in Seattle. Cam Porter who was out for the Washington game will have another week to recuperate.

Prediction:

NU 2
Bye 0

It's all about safety.
In the spirit of PPD, I’ll take the glass half full of purple koolaid and say Cats nip by

UNLV QB takes redshirt due to NIL dispute

I believe in the Gundy article that he misunderstood the outline of the basic agreement that the NCAA is attempting to work out in court. The $20 mil is intended for all of a school's athletes, not just the football team. Among other things that likely means that the payouts for women will equal the payouts for men.
There’s zero chance those payouts will be equal. Football will take about 85% of that money (as it should).

Glad to see that you remain a valuable resource despite the fact that the 'Cats are idle. Also, quite pleased to see that you don' t say the 'Cats have a "bye", which would be an incorrect use of the word, as I'm sure you know.
