Not to further belabor the point, but Kenpom just yesterday wrote that he is assigning officials a rating number related to the amount of fouls that a referee calls against the average ref, and incorporating it into his ref ratings. Based on his data, he indicates that individual officials are consistent from season to season in this regard. He tracks the top 200 refs on his site, and looking at the numbers, in the game against PSU, we were assigned a ref crew where all 3 were in the top 31 refs by fouls called above average. Per the linked article, this was one of just 52 games (2%) this season where there was an "extreme" ref crew as it relates to fouls called.

Problem is not so much the amount of fouls called, it's the discrepancy of fouls called against one team.
