Only 2 west coast games. That's nice or is everyone in the old B10/14 getting that deal?

Gonzaga also has zero academic requirements. Comparing their recruiting to NU is apples to bananas. When Gonzaga became an established program, they didn’t continue to pursue the scrappy kids. They recruited better and better players.
OK. Lots of really talented players share those values. That’s why the really good teams tend to always be good and we are not. We got lucky with Martinelli and just had one of those underrated guys leave after his freshman year. If we are not going to go after talented players with connections to the school, we are going to struggle to be competitive on a consistent basis. Having one of the 5 best point guards in the country raised everybody’s level of play.I think we stop chasing shiny things and stick with underrated guys open to learning, defending and playing team ball.
You are on your game!Cuz why not!?!?
PG - Leach 25
SG - Berry 35
W - BB 35
PF - Mart 30
C - MN 25
G - Mullins - 10
W - Smith - 13
C - Hunger - 13
X - Fitz - 4
X - Barkley - 5
X - Clayton - 5
RS - the frosh
And the plus:
- BB gets a triple double
- Mart & BB have more double doubles than games they don’t
- Hunger hits the 3 at legit clip and increases his driving
- Mart hits the 3 as a real threat and learns a skyhook from the right hand, Hummel loses his mind
- we see some twin tower play (about 2 mpg worth) - it’s doesn’t work and we banter around here whether to keep trying or eliminate it
- Ty breaks some records, MN breaks some glass
- one of the frosh force their way onto the floor for the right reasons
- pwb, ppd and sd attend an away game with me by plane, we record our discussions and it seeds the next great podcast - we call it Four Grapes in a Can
- I get fired as the marketing arm for Four Grapes and the podcast gets a new name
- our first guest is gcg - turns out he also only speaks one word responses
- we dance again and make the sweet 16
Is the message here that Lausch can throw, but we just don't know it yet? Suspect that Braun and Lujan have been talking to someone(s) in the portal, or who is about to be. They wouldn't have let Sullivan leave if they thought he was the guy or they didn't have options. Counting for certain on a Gronowski transfer would have been a fool's errand, and it makes no sense they would have. Something must be in the works.Nice job - you beat me to it!
Fans love what they think they know as opposed to the complete unknown. We've seen some flashes from Sullivan, but it was basically that one Maryland game where he shined, definitely not enough of a sample for us to be attached to him as a must have starter.I don’t get all of this Sully love. Was anyone really comfortable going into the season with him as the starter? He hasn’t won the job in his 3 years despite multiple opportunities. There is no such thing as a “presumed starter”. He is either the starter or he isn’t. Braun didn’t guarantee him the job, he elected to leave. He looked great in one way and looked awful in another. You don’t get guarantees with that. Just because you are in the program longer than anyone else at the position doesn’t mean you ascend to the throne. Just because you are a good kid doesn’t put you on the field!
I think we stop chasing shiny things and stick with underrated guys open to learning, defending and playing team ball.He committed when it looked like Collins was going to get fired. There were rumors his brother was going to transfer to NU if he didn’t go the NBA, so hopefully there is some connection.
He is pretty one dimensional at this point (granted, a really important dimension). I would be surprised if he is drafted. But he would a great replacement for Langborg and it would give him a chance to develop his ballhandling.
Yeah I get that. Their fans are happy for now because of the sugar rush from the portal. But yeah, it will get grumpy real fast if they struggle out of the gate next year.Woodson is always competing with IU fan expectations. It is a program with a cloud above it — like Nebraska in football, IU hasn’t recognized that nobody cares about them anymore.
Woodson has done a not-bad job. But IU has had a lot of top recruits over the year and has made no national impact for 20 years.
I think IU fans make it tougher, as I indicated in my comment that a Carlyle 2-for-9 night in November is going to be rough on him. Because IU fans make things rough.
In the past, at NU, yes. (Though it might quickly be converted to another kind of scholly if the injury was bad enough. Now, it is hard to saySo this is an early offer. He has two years left in HS. What is the deal if he commits and gets hurt in HS? Is his scholarship guaranteed? IF so, that would be quite and incentive for an academic local kid.
A lot of times, yes. Always, no.I have no idea if NU wants him or if he is considering NU. But I’m fairly sure that NIL has nothing to do with it. He wasn’t going to be on the three deep at OSU. We’re not talking about a superstar.
Let’s get out of our heads that everything comes down to NIL and that Northwestern is always gonna be behind. That’s just not always the issue.
Makes sense to me.He committed when it looked like Collins was going to get fired. There were rumors his brother was going to transfer to NU if he didn’t go the NBA, so hopefully there is some connection.

Nice job - you beat me to it!Did you watch them throw this Spring?
Woodson is always competing with IU fan expectations. It is a program with a cloud above it — like Nebraska in football, IU hasn’t recognized that nobody cares about them anymore.I know context matters, but in his three years at IU, Woodson has exactly the same conference record as Collins does over the last three years at NW, which is undoubtedly the best stretch of basketball that a coach has had at Northwestern (at least in a modern era). And to be fair to Woodson, he’s trying to build up after the coach before him was fired, so there is inherently a disadvantage to that, vs where he could be in Year 5+ where he’s had time to get more established.
I don’t think Woodson was the best candidate available, but to act like he can’t win based on his short sample size so far is silly. I suspect that they’ll be a solid team this year and a tourney team, which would make his 3rd in 4 seasons. Not sure they can compete for a conference title, but at the same time I don’t think there are any clear favorites either.
