Unless they should have called a goaltend for the PSU player touching the rim.
Ball was not in cylinder so it wouldn't be unless the movement of the rim would have made a difference. The officiating of the whole game was bad but once you got to this point not much you can do.

And if we had gotten into OT, almost everyone had 4 fouls. Barnhizer, Berry, Mullins, Leach, and Chello, So it would have been really tough in OT to keep tha team on the floor. But still we should have had the opportunity

Not sure who this guy is but doesn’t look like NU affiliated. Replies from a lot of non NU fans incredulous about the officiating…except the PSU fans.

He’s a national hoops guy who has been a big Collins advocate. I think he does NCAA tournament sideline reporting.

Chris Collins. The Pioneer.

It comes from a place of admiration, not fandom.

Everyone knows NU got screwed.

There's no way a ref should be blowing his whistle while the ball is bouncing around the rim unless he is calling a foul.
He didn't call a foul, so what the hell is he doing?
And I don't believe the ref blew his whistle before Barnhizer scored, so that basket should have counted.
And the Big dude on PSU definitely smacked the rim while the ball was partly in the cylinder, so the original shot should have counted.

Blatant theft or total incompetence.
Looked to me like Barnhizer still had the ball in his hands when the whistle was blown.

Collins Post Game Press Conference

Collins won't. He almost did that once after the Gonzaga screw job, but stopped short. He'll just continue playing the "nice guy" act with Big Ten officials...
  • And they'll continue to screw NU season, after season, after season
  • Fran McCaffrey once found the Big Ten refs in the tunnel after the game and screamed "You cheating motherf***er!" You're a f***ing disgrace!"... well, now Iowa gets treated fairly
  • PSU coach Mike Rhoades has zero history in the Big Ten, he's two years in, and noww his team gets a whistle against NU like nothing I've ever seen
  • NU suffered one of the craziest screw jobs I've ever seen in the closing seconds. What does Collins do? He remains docile and shakes hands. Well, I hope the nice guy routine makes him lots of friends. It doesn't get him calls
  • Frankly, NU fans have to question: "If Collins doesn't care enough to get fired up and show some real emotion, why should we?"
If that was in the tunnel it is out of site. Can do things out of sight that you cannot do in full view

Maybe the bye in the playoffs isn't an advantage.

A win is a win for ND but Georgia helped them out. A long drop in the first half, giving back 15 yards when they had it at the eleven, giving up the kick return, and jumping off-sides on the critical fourth down. I think I've got Georgia if they re-matched.
So in other words, Notre Dame played better!

Honestly, this was an easy game to pick for a pick ‘em. I should have teased the game to the -9 at +240 like I said I was going to do.

Travel question

I am old enough to remember the old Big Ten schedule that was very academics / travel friendly. Paired teams were: MSU/UM. IU/OSU, Purdue/Illinois, NU/Wisconsin, Iowa/Minnesota. Thursday / Saturday games. One trip every two weeks.

Getting on my soapbox, please don't be mad about players getting paid. The Universities decided a LONG time ago that football and men's basketball were big business, and that the players were students subordinate to being television product.

Hence they called it an inadvertant whistle. Can't it be both?
