Sign Of The Times

Only one QB plays. That one guy gets all the snaps, fame, attention, glory, and fortune.

The other guy gets nothing.

The starting job is everything.
Right. Except there’s nothing that says the MSU transfer who hardly played as a freshman was better than the returning ASU freshman who hardly played as a freshman. Similar recruiting rankings. Dillingham was the head coach who signed Rashada.

Unless Dillingham said ‘the job’s not yours’, why not compete at ASU?

It’s pretty wild. Bad advice all over the place. Maybe the NCAA will be forced to offer unlimited eligibility as long as you’re ’making progress toward a degree’.

Rashada might be a 28-year-old redshirt freshman just trying to crack the lineup at Baylor in 8 years. Stack that paper.

Sign Of The Times

Rashada is back in the portal after serving as Georgia’s third stringer this year.

He transferred when ASU brought in someone to compete with him (Sam Leavitt, MSU, same class) and now is transferring because he’s behind Stockton at Georgia.

It’s a shame that so many kids don’t want to compete for a role. He could’ve spent a year handing to Skattebo, getting better as the year went on, and playing in the CFP. (Leavitt was…fine this year. Rashada could’ve competed and won, unless he was ‘asked to leave’ for being me-first.)

Oh well.

He’s gotten lots of bad advice. I still hope he wins his lawsuit.

Leavett was fantastic - at least every time I saw him play.

It’s Fine

Zero positive in that game. Not making that argument. But it was a tough game coming off a brutal loss. We didn’t show up. We weren’t competitive. But just a bad day. Regroup. Move on. Have a good week of practice.

It makes our margin of error smaller, but I actually feel better about this than the PSU game. Sometimes you’re just off. We have a veteran club that won’t carry that over to next weekend.

Gello!

FOOTBALL January 6th - New Cats Arrive at the Walter Athletics Center

Spring ball should have a very different feel this year. Excited to see this influx of fresh blood. Should make for some great competition come March/April!

The Sweet Sixteen
Daniel Anderson, RB
Evan Beernsten, OG
Braden Blueitt, WR
Trey Boyd, OL
An’Darius Coffey, CB
Marquet Dorsey Jr., CB
Dube Enongene, WR
Chase Farrell, WR
Xavior Gray, OT
Yanni Karlaftis, LB
Caden O’Rourke, DE
Liam Reardon, LC
Marcus Romain, QB
Preston Stone, QB
Alex Vines, TE
Griffin Wilde, WR

It’s Fine

He's had long enough to prove that he can make it, and he can't. So, now it becomes just another empty possession.
He needs to stop shooting, the coaching staff needs to tell him to stop shooting. He has too many soft fouls too that end up in “and 1s.” Definitely a high energy guy for the Cats, but not sure why he gets the minutes he does.

Why would Penn state be playing Indiana in

Why is it BB home venues now seem to have so much influence on game outcomes, especially in the B1G? This is not as much true in football. Even in such revered venues as the Palestra, the better teams usually win. which we saw today with the Indiana win over "home team" PSU. What I experienced in Philly was whichever Big Five team was good at the time, they won there, and not because it gave them an advantage, in spite of being an exciting venue. Something seems off kilter re NU, they need to win games in hostile territory.

It’s Fine

Yeah but I really think the swindling of a potential victory at Penn State affected the team more then you think. When they look at the tape they will see clear bias and all of those reds should be suspended without pay
It’s also not easy traveling to State College on a Thursday and then West Lafayette on Sunday afternoon. That’s a tough travel schedule.

Game Thread: Northwestern vs. No. 20 Purdue

I posted Ciaravino's numbers and an argument that he should be getting playing time before the Penn State loss.
And stated that Windham may have to play the point because I wasn't sure Leach could handle pressure (after seeing the Northeastern game in person)

Benching Nicholson for lethargic play early in the game is akin to quitting. The problems were elsewhere.
CCC clearly said Jello and KJ were not in the rotation because they were not quite there defensively. He also said they are improving in that aspect and that is why they are seeing more action.

Defense has also been the table stakes for playing with CCC, even before the Wizard was hired as our main defensive voice. Do I think Jello is a good defender now, No. Do I think he will be a good defender, Yes. Do I think KJ is a good defender now, No. Do I think he is a good defender, Yes. This has played out with almost all first year players. Nick was a poor defender, now he is decent. Berry and Barney too. Even Big Matt was poor on defense his first year, now he is elite.

Who was he going to sit when we were down? Berry wasn’t contributing and Big Matt isn’t going to bring you back from 25 down. I am sure he would have been in there if we cut the lead but we didn’t. Someone goes to bench when Jello and KJ play. Leach was scoring some and our two forwards are the best scores on the team by a country mile!
