We’ve had some “freaky” type athletes at NU football, guys like Ifeadi and Tommy Adebawore come to mind. Just saw a post about a South Carolina freshman Nyck Harbor who qualified for NCAA track in 100m and 200m, posting 10.12 and 20.20 times. By the way, he’s 6-5 240 lbs. Damn!

Hadn't heard this one..

Anyone know where to purchase the light purple N-lacrosse t-shirts? I was at the BIG championship and all the merch looked to be the run of the mill licensed gear. Also searched the web and no luck. Love the light purple T-shirts with the big N. Looks like it might be a team/family offering…

Any board members have any insights or inside track on acquiring one of these?

I talked to Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller defensive end Jonah Hayes about his offer from Northwestern and his recruitment.

Not sure how this fully impacts NU. Assuming it leads to some sort of a salary cap, it could be a good thing?

Several athletic directors told ESPN that they are hopeful the settlement lays the groundwork for a system where success on the field is less dependent on which schools can spend the most money.

Jonah Hayes from Moeller HS, has an impressive family, to say the least. Dad is former longtime Bengal TE Jonathan Hayes (Iowa grad and current AD at Moeller), brother Jaxson (Texas grad) is a 6 year NBA veteran playing for the Lakers (7 ft), sister Jillian is a F for Cincinnati and the other brother, Jewett is a freshman DE at Virginia. Glad we offered based on bloodlines alone. LOL.

Hayes lists himself at 6’6” and 215 pounds. He certainly has the frame to put on more weight.

I’d expect him to be a part of the May 31st visit weekend. Looking forward to the @mshelton33 interview with Jonah!

@lou v talked to new Northwestern quarterback Mike Wright on his decision and his journey to Evanston as a grad transfer.

I had a call with DE Chinedu Onyeagoro last evening, a story will be coming out tomorrow. He greatly enjoyed his visit and the Wildcats are "definitely in [his] Top 4, and they'e not Number 4". He said he's keeping the other three programs private. He's planning to make a decision in July or August ahead of his senior season, but those late projections typically end up being late June in reality.

He changed his profile picture on Twitter to his Northwestern OV photo, that's not a tease, he texted "no significance, I just liked the picture". His recruitment is hard to forecast because there continue to be some really big programs circling around with offers or interest that could change his landscape drastically. He had Georgia, Clemson, Florida and Miami all in his Top 10 but hasn't taken an official to any of them yet. His remaining officials right now are SMU on June 7 and Washington on June 21. He added via text after that he's in talks to schedule an official visit with Florida, Texas and Texas A&M. We'll see if any or all of those three come to fruition.

Northwestern's academics can give them a good chance but, based on Onyeagoro's Top 10 list and possible visits, it's a real shell game. Braun could be pitching against a barely-ACC program and a new head off to a very slow start at Washington, or he could end up pitching against Kirby Smart and Steve Sarkisian. Onyeagoro loves Northwestern's academics but that will only go so far if the latter becomes reality, unless he follows in the footsteps of the legendary Ifeadi Odenigbo.


A key big picture detail from Onyeagoro that modifies a bit of reporting I posted earlier: I originally heard from another player that they will take two DEs total, Onyeagoro clarified Northwestern plans to take two MORE in addition to the already committed Caden O'Rourke.

Seems like we’re at a bit of standstill. Hoping Foster is still on the recruiting trail especially if the desire is to bring in two backs.
