I do not know enough of the people in the S&C community to check their twitter handles to see if we have secretly hired someone. Does anyone know any candidates we might be looking at? I know it has been mentioned on this board by several, but this is an important hire. We have not been physical enough especially on the O-line. If we are going to be the developmental program that Braun talked about then we really need to crush this hire.

They were easily the worst P6 team this year, like not even competitive in 6 of their first 7 conference games.

Appears as if he will not return as per recent IG post. It looks like he signed on to coach in the IFL (Italian Football League). The post refers to him as former starting guard for Northwestern. The Lazio Marines. 🤷‍♂️

DE Austin Alexander is interested in Northwestern's unique blend of academics, football and faith. I talked to the four-star about his offer from the Wildcats and more in this WildcatReport premium story.

The Wildcats rallied from a double digit deficit but failed to capitalize on several chances to take the lead, then stumbled down the stretch in Lincoln, falling to the Cornhuskers 75-69.


Ty Berry and Boo Buie both had bad games. NU was still +2 when Buie was on the court, but -13 when Ty Berry was on the court.
When Ryan Langborg and Ty Berry were out there together, NU got beat 53-41 in about 23 minutes.
When Buie was on the bench we got beat 8-0.
The starting lineup (Hunger/Barnhizer/Berry/Langborg/Buie) got outscored 13-9 in about 6.5 minutes.
The old starters (Nicholson) played to a 28-28 draw over 17 minutes.
The top lineup for NU was Nicholson/Martinelli/Barnhizer/Buie/Langborg who won 19-11 in about 7.5 minutes.
Collins played Nicholson/Barnhizer/Berry/Buie/Langborg for the last 9 minutes of the game.
Barnhizer was phenomenal and Nicholson was good, but Berry had a turnover and 4 missed 3-pointers, without scoring.
Immediately prior to that, with Berry sitting and Martinelli playing, NU had outscored Nebraska 14-9 to get back in the game.

Northwestern is in the mix for four-star DE Austin Alexander. There will be a full story up tomorrow but here are my notes from the call:

NU is in his "Top 5, Top 10" and he's looking to take a visit as soon as this weekend, pending his basketball schedule, that could "bump them up".

Academics are a high priority, he carries a 4.46, with a mix of traditional heavyweights. It wasn't formal but an off the top of his head list of schools he also plans to visit: Tennessee, Stanford, Wisconsin, Virginia and Ohio State. I was surprised not to hear Kentucky, his state school, or Notre Dame, where he's visited four times the past three years, but again, I took that list as an off the top of his head exercise and a window into his process rather than a locked in Top 5 + NU.

Tim McGarigle visited the school in person, Christian Smith has been lead recruiter, had a call with them finished by Braun coming in and offering him a scholarship.

Alexander said a strong point of connection with Smith and Braun is their Christian faith. If he locks in a trip this weekend, he would be the first four star on campus for Braun and his staff.

Former NU center and captain Jared Thomas will play for the Massachusetts Pirates in the Indoor Football League.

I’m a little surprised at this one because we don’t see a lot of NU kids playing indoor football, but I guess he’s chasing his dream. Best of luck to No. 65!

Demolition starts next week, January 22, according to a local paper covering an Evanston city hearing last night. It will take about 4 months to tear it down. It’s happening!

Pretty sure this is counting players only on the active rosters. Just incredible to see Harvard listed along with those other Blue Bloods.

Neb was red hot in the first half, we weren’t. Got it very close toward the end then went ice cold down the stretch (like at Wis). Boo’s worst game in a long time. If he has a slightly below average game (vs 2-15 shooting), we win. So hard to win on the road.
