Jake Stearney

Loyola Academy QB is best in state and better than any QB on Cats roster. He is poised and has excellent pocket awareness. A good decision maker who almost never gets sacked or turns it over. He can do it with his arm and legs.

He committed to Colgate last year but should be getting a lot more interest after another great year.

Today he led the Ramblers past York (12-0) and to the State Championship game next weekend. The kid is a leader who does nothing but win.

NU vs SIU

Women take a 52 to 34 lead into the half on a buzzer beater three from Wood.

I can see how the better teams are stomping the cats. Their defense seems to involve packing the paint and leaving one or two shooters at the three on most possessions.

I’m seeing some good work on offense tho. And Walsh has been on fire scoring point blank, mid range, and from three. She looks a lot better than the last two games we attended.

Lots of dumb fouls and out of control play tho. I wonder if that’s just business as usual because it’s been that way for both teams at all the games I’ve seen.

Go cats :)

Game thread for Northwestern vs. Purdue

Are you ready for the Cole Freeman Era? I had heard he might be the guy today. Freeman, Richardson and Lausch were all dressed and warming up, but Freeman took reps with the ones. (I'm at Ross-Ade today.)

It's a cold and windy day in West Lafayette. Look for NU to run the ball, eat clock, muck up the game and just hope Purdue makes some mistakes to give them a shot late in the game. I'm not optimistic.

OT - Skip the Wildcats tomorrow, join ESPN Gameday in Montana

Forget about NU vs. Purdue. Turn on your TV and watch the 121st installment of the oldest college football rivalry west of the Mississippi River, Montana vs. Montana State. This year, ESPN Gameday will be broadcasting from Bozeman, site of this year’s game. First time in Montana, and the Treasure State is going bonkers!

As someone on the ESPN crew pointed out, this rivalry is older than Ohio State vs. Michigan, older than the Red River showdown between Texas and Oklahoma … and a lot more.

TV watch parties all over the country, and even at least one international in New Zealand. My wife and I caught the 2021 game at a bar in downtown Salt Lake City.

You might be able to find and join the fun with the help of this site:

There’s a football game this weekend. Can NU win?

I was going to introduce the concept that a) of course Northwestern can’t stop the run, but b) at least Purdue can’t run.

However, Purdue’s lead back, Mockobee, is at 5.0ypc this year, and ground out 100 yards on 28 carries against Illinois last week.

Saturday looks like 30s and partly cloudy, no precipitation. So we won’t have the 12th man on defense.

And NU doesn’t make plays in the return game.

And Purdue has a shot at the West after last week’s upset of Illinois.

So, yes, I think NU has a great chance for victory.

Buie scores 1000 pts, shrugs

They announced at the game that Buie had scored over 1000 points in his career with his previous 3. Beran heard it and was about to inbound to Buie and tries to congratulate Buie for the milestone. Buie didn't know what Beran was talking about so Beran explained what had happened. Buie shrugged as if to say, "Cool". Beran inbounds and Buie goes about his game.

I was very impressed with Boo. He wasn't focused on career points, only winning the game. They were right in front of us so you could both hear them and see the reaction.
